Get ready for interior drone though (I have the Bullets), and the drone don't faze me all with my Bullets (but is too much for your average vette enthusiast)!
The absolute LOUDEST set-up is to run straight pipe which a few members have done!!

I have long pipe headers, modded heads, big cam, NO cats and Corsa 3" free flow "mufflers". And I make Harley Motorcycles guys look up and give me the thumbs up. I'm not sure if you can get much louder than I have it. It sound like open headers to me. I'm changing over to a bi-mode muffler....its too loud.

Drifting
my ar headers with catless x-pipe and borla stingers is so loud...especially the 6th gear 80mph drone.. need to pick up some ear plugs..

The reason I asked was because last week I installed kooks 1 7/8 headers, x-pipe with no cats, and bullet exhaust. After all this, it is still not what I'm looking for... my E60 M5 was 2x louder with no drone in the car...similar set up but with no aftermarket headers. this is a bit weird to me.
I'm thinking about cutting off the mufflers in the bullet and putting straight pipes there. What do you guys think?
I love sound on a car with power~

I've been trying the straight pipe route this week..Sounds good, but if you want to hear your XM you better have a good upgraded stereo.
I'll try it this way for a few months..Not sure it will stay this way though. Crazy loud, but it is not my daily driver so okay for now.

1. The comp ratio
2. Cam
3. diameter of the exhaust port
4. shorter exhaust tubes
5. where the exhaust dumps
6. the fuel (Nitro makes noise)
Now, while I enjoy hearing a good sounding engine, I also realize my hearing is a 1 way street. Once it deteriorates, it WILL not recover. After many years of "noisey engines," (and concerts in the *1970's and 1980's) I am now paying for that loss.
The Doors was probably the loudest. Cheap Trick wasn't far behind.

Like mentioned already, a nice big cam will substantially change your exhaust note. Mine got wayy louder with my Striker II cam. Im running AR LT's, O/R X and the pre-production Corsas and my God its LOUD. But, i am bored of the high pitch sound already. E60 M5 with Meisterchaft section 1, 2, 3 will do that LOL.
Gonna sell the Corsa's soon and thinking either Borla Stingers or the new ATAk that just came out..

A buddy of mine gutted the small mufflers on his Z06 Bullets. They sound pretty good, I have the regular Bullets and they sound nice but not radical. The straight pipes with your setup would definitely give you an agressive sound. I think I would gut the mufflers first and if that wan't enough you could go for the straight pipes.

Bullets
Kooks LT's
I currently run that and it's just not loud enough anymore so...I am going with electric cutouts.
Besides camming...if there is something louder please let me know

If achieving the highest decibel level is your priority, and you don't care about the tonal quality of the exhaust note, the first thing I would do is eliminate all mufflers/resonators. You can have any reliable exhaust shop cut the mufflers out and weld a piece of pipe in their place.
If you are using the vehicle "off road", and emissions legality is not an issue for you, I would also remove the cats (either by replacing them with straight pipe or by installing long tube headers) Please remember that removing the cats renders your vehicle federally illegal to drive on public roads.
I'd use these long tubes.
