If color is at all an issue, and you're possibly as nuts about Lemans Blue as I was (2 years ago when I bought mine), '07 was the last year! Good luck finding your car!

I just bought a 2009 Blade Silver Z06 with 3LZ package for $56,000 + tax, etc. It had 1,045 miles on it. Now almost 3000. The car is very well behaved and the 3LZ is way nicer than I thought it would be. The leather wrapped interior is on point! I must mention that the dealership also added kooks longtube headers, high flow cats, corsa exhaust and a tune - all for the same price. The car is crazy fast and turns every head... good luck with the purchase.

disagree, get the best condition lowest mile car you can afford. They are all very similar in your price range (06-08) I have an 06, my mom has an 08. Save for a plastic bit here and there and the shocks, they are the same car. The 06 has less tourque management so feels faster slightly, 08 feels slightly smoother with shocks and tq management. Both totally amazing cars and so slightly different I wouldnt let the year model dictate which car to get.

Condition is everything.

All years are great. Every year saw some minor upgrades. I have an 06 and am extremely happy with it. Just do your homework and find the right car for YOU.

Unless your going to 'track' the Z, I do not see any difference in the T56 vs the T6060. It was in 2010 they updated the T6060 and again in 2011. They now have carbon fiber synchro's in 1-2 and 3-4 (2011+). In 2010 I think it was something to do with shafts or some other internal....do not remember. (I have one too and forgot)

Get the 3LZ 2008 in your range (2LZ and even 1LZ are well equipped).....should be able to find one this spring in that range.
I remember reading that halfway thru 2010 they made a running change to the CF syncros but I don't know how true that is. I believe that 2010 and above have asymmetrical half shafts which all but eliminate rear wheel hop.

Each year they've done some improvement, but generally they're all pretty much the same car. Its all about how much you want to spend. I was originally budgeted and was set on an 08+, but would not pass up a good deal on and 06-07 if I ran across one. 'Good Deal' is relative and different between you and I, but to me it was a combination of good price, good condition, reasonable mileage and optioned favorably.

I ended up finding that 'good deal' earlier this year and have no regrets going with the older year. The car was optioned out exactly like I would have done it from the factory. Very happy with my purchase and the money I saved.

With all of this said, my ideal car is a Z07 + CFZ, but that was beyond my budget.

And of course one that is in GREAT shape and has an excellent service/maintance record, and preferably with an extended GMPP warranty on it, so she is protected for many years to come is always a huge plus!

You are in the ultimate buyers market in many, many years, and in the winter market also, so now is the ideal time to purchase. Take your time Grasshopper, do your homework and due diligence, and you should be able to pick up a mint, well kept, low mileage Z for $50 (2008 for certain and 2009s also, DON'T RUSH IT)!!

08 to avoid the roof and likely-hood of rocker issues, and for the 6060 tranny upgrade and better looking dash bezel - although you can buy that part and install it on older models...

09 is better because the spyder wheels and bluetooth came available too, but most importantly so did the highly coveted cyber gray color... it seems to me that the all black interiors are in greater demand and look the best too.

So if it was me doing it again it would be a cyber gray 09 3LZ with spyder wheels and all black interior, but would at least get the 08 2LZ (all black) just like the one I have now.

Don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but starting in 2011 LS7 began using the ZR1 type oil cooler. This bolts to the side of the engine and has coolant running through it.

From what I hear it does a better job of keeping your oil temp in the optimal range.

But of course when I get a Z06 - it will have to have an engine built by me!

The 6060 is stronger in all respects....a fairly well established fact for those pushing the HP envelope. Having experience with both....clear back to the first versions in the early Vipers....I wouldn't go back to it's notchy feel or quirky cold weather issues.
