Default Winter storage & tires

Since where I live in an area where the winters get brutal I will be put the ZO6 up for the winter.
Any feedback about the tires? I have heard some people put extra air in the tires to prevent flat spots. If so how much air should be added.
Do not tell me to put on stands, too low for me to mess with. I have also seen some pads you can set under your tires to prevent flat spots but too expensive for me, I think several hundred dollars for the four units.

I inflate to 40# or so. I rent a 10 x 20 storage unit and I lay down a 10 x 20 sheet of 4 mil. poly down first then back my Z into the storage unit. I have been told that moisture can pass through the concrete so I use the poly as a vapor barrier. Been doing this for seven or eight years now. An easy thing to do for extra peace of mind.

Tires will lose (breathe) about a pound a month of air pressure as a general rule.

So there is no need to get the weight off (completely or patially) the tires, like putting the car on blocks?

Did they used to do that years ago before radial tires (stronger) or something?

If you have the means....store the car in a heated shop....I leave my car untouched (besides a battery tender) for the Michigan storage season and never have an issue.

yes, but years ago in the days of bias-ply tires. Over inflate and you'll be fine..........it's not a 5000 lb car

I pump mine up to 50 lbs.

If you are really concerned go to Lowes or home Depot. Buy a sheet of 2" extruded foam insulation not the fused beads.
Cut it in 4 and put one piece under each tire. The weight of the car will cause the foam to deform and match the shape of the tire spreading the weight over a lot more area. That is the principle of those expensive tire saver systems

I have been storing cars over the winter from November to April for over 25 years and have never done anything to the tires and have never had any issues with flat spots.

I often go two weeks or more between times when I drive some of my cars, and they ALL have flat spots for the first 10 miles or so. After driving a bit, they smoothe right out, and I don't worry about it.

This is the right way,,,moisture is a problem too! Only thing I can add is a ceiling fan (slow speed), it also holds down moisture.

inflate the tires to max pressure indicated on sidewall of tire and check a couple of times over the winter to make sure air pressure is okay
