Default 1 3/4 vs 1 7/8 headers

which do you prefer, and why?

Im sure this has been beaten to death, but I have a reason that I will disclose later.

I prefer the larger. They have always made great power for me and being cheap on headers going into a $60k+ car is dumb.

I prefer 2" but that wasn't an option in your question

Here is my graph showing before and after 2" headers (tuned before and tuned after)... not exactly thrilled with the gains per $, but my point is to show that you don't lose any torque by going to a larger header (1 7/8 or 2") on a basically stock Z06--contrary to popular opinion.

I'm putting a set of SW's with 2" on this week.
I had 1 7/8 on my LS3 and it made good power.
So I believe that bigger is better when it comes to headers.

It depends on where you want the power and throttle response.

70 reads and only 2 responses because we are all tired of reading about a topic that has been covered here over 100 times. If you are so bent on getting a response go read all the responses to all the other times this topic has been addressed. That should keep you, busy for the next six to eight weeks! Are you serious?

Absolutely! My car loves the corn! Btw the above dyno reads like a mustang dyno, whereas all my E85 & Halltech dyno testing was done on a different dynojet.

+17hp +20tq seems like a pretty nice bang for the buck if you ask me.

You're still using stock injectors as well, if I recall, at right around 90% IDC.

I'll go dig your old thread up and re-read it

Need to fast forward a bit--I have the SW 2" headers, FAST102/NW102, and ZR1 injectors now.

Get notified of new replies

You only make 5xx for power. Who cares at that level.

That dip in your graph says something else is wrong with your setup too. Could be the tune or something else.

I have 1 3/4 LG's. A friend had 1 7/8's Kooks. He made 10 rwhp more than me and even overlayed our graphs were similar throughout with his gain being a bit larger on the top side. Same dyno, but different days.

Did he have anything else done? What were the conditions between your run and his?
