Louvered Hoods - good? bad? otherwise?
I'm thinking of going with a louvered hood. I'm leaning toward a multi-louvered design, as opposed to a single center louver.
I like the look, for sure. But, I really want to go in this direction in order to get max air flow / cooling of the engine bay. With the TT setup, things can get pretty hot under there in the TX summer heat.
Anyone gone this route? What would you recommend and/or guard against?
Of course, PICS would be great!

I have an ACP hood. Been on there exactly two years now. No issues at all except for occasionally needing to wipe down the extra dust that gets to the motor. It's been in some heavy rain with no problems. I wouldn't want to leave it parked in the rain for long but driving in the rain is no issue at all.
When I wash the car I open the hood and put a doubled-up terry towel over the motor where the louvers are and avoid *pouring* water down there.
I like it. The cooling value is obvious on warm-to-hot days - you can see the heat coming out in waves. And if you like hearing an LS7 do its thing then winding the motor out on a nice mountain road with the driver's window down will make you grin big time You *will* hear the thing!

WC hood gives a lot more front down force and improves cooling.

The above is nice. I was never really a fan of these hoods before but I do like the Halltech GT2. I like the ones that are painted and leave the center towards the windshield unpainted, showing the carbon fiber.
Make sure you click on the "Larger Photo" button to view different GT2 hoods at this link:

I like mine. Functional, subtle and good figment. It has water trays to catch then funnel fluid through hoses inside the hood body that drain beside the radiator.
Caravaggio C6 HiRise Composite purchased through Katech during my build. Sorry, I don't remember the cost since it was bundled with the build.

I have had the ACP world challenge hood for 2 years also and love it. The increase in down force and extra cooling are really nice. Also have had no problem with the rain or water getting on the motor. Just a quick wipe down after a wash job and your good to go. JD

I generally don't like add on pieces like louvered hoods. But I must say the two on this thread are very good looking and appear very functional. Coming from someone who doesn't like this sort of thing.

This is a carbon fiber hood (Hi-Tech) which has been painted leaving a little carbon exposed. I've had it going on two years and have had no issues with it -

I love the look of that hood, but there seems to be a gap between the fenders and front bumper. does it not have a clean fit? i've considered buying it and now thinking twice about it.

That way, if my 'Z got caught out in the rain (parked) water stays off the engine with vents kept to each side of hood.
I would not mind the Halltech vented hood either....
