Nice article. I consider myself a car guy as I love several makes and models. If I could afford a GTR AND a Z06 I'd have one in my garage. But the wife says I only get one toy and, for me, it's gotta be a Z06.

Excelent video!
That guy needs to settle down he is getting way to excited in that video (sarcasm).
He brings about as much energy as Bob Villa when he would be re-staining a wood deck. Get excited - you are racing two of the fastest cars on the road.
It's amazing how there is really no close second to the way Clarkson and Co review and how high the filmmaking quality is on Top Gear.

Great write up and love my Z06's. The write up about the rock hard suspension from the GTR reminded me of my buddy's new EVO. I rode in it yesterday and it was the most uncomfortable ride i've ever experienced. It was like riding in the Flintstone mobile. Remember, solid axle and solid wood wheels? No suspension at all.
On a good note, we are supposed to head out to Prescott, AZ on thursday so he can take a look at an 02 Z06 but i'm dreading having to ride in the flintstone mobile for a 12 hour round trip drive.

Holy friggen crap. They liked the seats:
GM did address one area of the Corvette's interior for 2012, though, and you probably better sit down for this one: The Corvette now has real seats with actual lateral support (even power-adjustable bolsters) and grippy microfiber inserts. No more flopping around through corners. Yet they're still comfy. In fact, we prefer these buckets over the GT-R's seats

Very cool to see the 2 cars so close in performance all around. It's interesting because the 545HP of the GTR is somewhat negated by the fact that it weighs nearly 800lbs more than the Z06..so power-wise in a sense the 2 cars are almost equal.
What really hits home I think in the artilce is the comment about how GM has in fact bridged some of the technology gap between the 2 cars with the TPM and Suspension improvements in the Z. It also goes to show just how important braking performance, and traction, and tire selection are key (most already know this but its good the article points it out)
Of course most of us here are biased toward the Z (as am I) otherwise we would not be here. It's right and fair to acknowledge the fact that the GTR is an amazing car in it's own right.
I still prefer the looks, sound and over-all demanor of the Z. I also am more attracted to cars that take talent/skill to drive, rather than a computer doing everything for me...so yes there is my knock on the GTR
In the end we the consumers benefit from the 2 manufacturers going head to head improving both cars.

Hey Mark,
Sorry to hear you had issues. My 09 GT R has been a ton of trouble free fun. Have incoming '13 White/Blk GT R. Already upgraded my Z06 to a '12 White/Blk,CFN_Z07.
I enjoy the Z06 and the GT R. Totally different vehicles.....love both!
Cheers,
R

I do believe the GTR will eclipse the ET eventually, but definitely not the trap speed.

Dear Bah321 pne z06 on a prepped track doesnt represent the norm ,i consider myself a very good drag racer and so far havent come close to running 11.1 all stock on stock rubber.I d love to see those who supposedly have ,go to a randomn track and run these times that seem to elude the rest of us!On a roll i ve wasted every car out there gtr, porsche 911 twin turbo, ferrari 430 etc... But to beat a 2012 or 2013 gtr from a dead stop...No way!
