KATECH experimental polycarbonate power side windows
To my knowledge, nobody has ever done lexan or polycarbonate power side windows. I gave it a shot and figured out how to make it work. Weight savings is 7lbs for the pair. Optical grade polycarbonate looks great and has an anti-scratch coating. Currently there are no plans to go into production, but if the response is good we may do it.
Here is a video showing how they work. What do you guys think? I know some weight nuts will like them.

I assume this is for track cars only. 7 pounds weight savings is going to look real stupid when you are trapped in your car after an accident and the window wont shatter so you can get out....

Since it's not a fully framed window I can easily pop the top out of the track and escape. But yes, this is more for track cars.

There is a certain undeniable "coolness" to having something like that on your car.
Also, regarding the need to shatter the window to get out of the car -- -- I have never met anyone who had to do that. Has anyone in this forum ever been in that spot or talked to someone who himself/herself was in that situation?
