Default Locked FOB w/ key in trunk...help please

My FOB and key are in my trunk, locked in the car. Can't get in and AAA/locksmith couldn't help without the "key code" G followed by 4 numbers.

All GM service centers are closed now and seem to be closed Sunday too. I need to get in my car before then and need help. I don't want to damage the car with slim Jim's or wires though

GF threw the spare away accidentally BTW.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Sorry to hear that. No mention of OnStar. They saved my **** while at a grocery store soaking wet from the gym with an outside temp of 19F. Did you call them?

There was a thread about 2 weeks ago where a guy drilled out some rivets to get to the trunk release lanyard. Maybe he'll see this thread and help, or search the forum for it.

Yeah, I tried onstar too. Said my car has been offline for too long and they wouldn't be able to get a signal to it

I really don't want to have it towed. Especially with the zr1 skirts/splitter.

Anyone know if the button above the plate even works I the FOB is inside the car? I know it's pretty close to the back of my trunk, but won't pop the trunk...

Wondering if a good shaking would help.

If I removed the tail lights, can I get into the trunk? Probably not...this sucks

Girl friends that throw keys out should be dumped. They obviously aren't careful enough.

If the tow truck operator knows what he is doing he should be able to move it without damaging the car. When I blew my engine at the track the tow truck operator lifted the rear of the car with a frame that fit around both rear wheels. He had a pardner stand in front of the car and lifted just enough to get the wheels off the ground and kept the front bumper several inches off the ground. When I had the car towed from my garage the roll back operator used boards lined up in front of the car to get the front wheels high enough that the nose cleared the ramp. He dragged the car on slowly and kept moving the boards to protect the car. When he got to the dealership he reversed the process. No damage to the car at all.

By the way in the future keep your FOB in your pants and your pants on and you won't get caught without a key.

Bill

I did this 2 weeks ago as well. I went to a local Chevy dealership and had a key made, then popped the trunk.

I was pretty pissed with myself lol

Yeah, problem was I never unlocked the car, just popped the trunk. The buddy closes the trunk and the alarm went off for a minute and everything remained locked.

Guess I need to get to a Chevy dealer, but I think only the service dept can help and none are open Sundays...

Have run into this problem before.... Call Gm roadside cust svc. The will then call a "Gm authorized" locksmith and turn over your key code for trunk. they will NOT give it to you. Email me and I'll give you my number if you want further help. I ran into this on Sunday as well.

Some of us have a "hidey key"...that's no help to the OP now, but maybe next time...
At any rate, having a hidey key has saved me from getting locked out of my Z, going on 6 years now.

(Here's where Ford's numeric key pad really is a "better idea")
