big time.. i went to a 315-30-18 and now i can't get it out of the hole.. it either bogs or blows the tires off.. the only pass i ran it out, it bogged and went 10.50 @ 141.. that was with a 1.84 60'.. i think it has 143 in it on a good launch, but now my 2nd gear synchros are gone from all my clutch issues.. i can't justify 25k plus on a 4l80 and really can't afford it.. i do think it'd go 9.50's with a t400 though.. really wish i wouldn't of just spent 9k dollars on drivetrain parts a couple of weeks ago!!

It will basically be the same as driving around with only 4 gears in your 6 speed... Just a 1:1 ratio... Feel free to give me a call if you wanna do a th400 swap. We are doing a PG 9 inch swap in a car right now.

I have always been a big proponent of having two cars...one a dedicated street race monster (or 1/4 mile track car if your "against" street racing) and a nice highway pull, dialy driver, high hp 6 speed car.
You could do a monster h/c/i/e Z06 with heavy clutch for about 12K...and have 600+rwhp and a ton of fun on the street...
then you goto the track....
come back home spend another 10K on driveline parts, repeated clutch issues, breakage, etc to try to lauch at 5500 rpm and dead hook it like all the mustangs at the track....
get pissed, and think of spending another 10K on a TH400, then some more rear end parts to get solidly in the 9's....
------------------------------OR---------------------------------
keep the h/c/i/e vette, put 150 shot on it, stock rear, DR, and run bikes from a roll
and
spend $15-20k on a built mustang with PG or C4 and fab 9, weighing about 3100 lbs or less, with turbo ls motor or plain ol built sb or bb with nitrous that will run mid 9's or better and NOT BREAK.
always helpful to take a step back and rethink staying with the same car for double purpose....always easier, less stressful, and less money to have two cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just thinking about bumping your old thread the other day to ask for some results. Sorry to hear about the clutch/tranny issues!
I dont think my 4L65 limits me on high speed runs, I plan on running bikes to 150+ with it. Plus a 150-200 shot for those bikes that streetracingguy speaks of lol.
I just hope it won't give me any issues with the new power plant, hoping for similar ETs as you were...

Seriously though, your points are exactly spot on and I don't have nearly enough money for the above anyway!!!
