[Z06] how will our 505hp Z's stack up against the '13 662hp shelby?

Hey, you're the one that posted the track times. You just don't like it that a dramatically less powerful and heavier car, hangs with the GT500 on a track. Next time don't set yourself up like that.
I own a Z06, I won't be getting smoked by a GT500 unless he's modded.

That's not what those track number show. I see a car down by 100hp and heavier right on the door handle of the GT500. Even a slight examination of the reasons why are obvious, unless you're drunk on fanboism.

Let's just agree to disagree. I have never owned a Ford product but I just believe they are making better carss overall IMO. I just got a car that I always wanted regardless of the brand and I'm happy with it.

I don't have a dog in the fight (look at my previous posts on the subject) but is this what the SVT guys use to feel better about themselves?
The chart is completely stacked in favor of the GT500 with multiple acceleration tests each carrying the same value as a whole test in another segment. Its no surprise that a car that better from 0-100 is better at the quarter mile or better 0-150. Somehow that counts as three wins when its basically the same thing. It isn't ALWAYS the case (especially when comparing AWD vs RWD), but given the similarities of both cars, there are no surprises it was a clean sweep.
I could stack it in favor of the ZL1 by drawing a win as it stops better from 100-0mph, 90-0, 80-0, 70-0, 60-0 etc.
I really don't care about the GT500 vs ZL1. I'm just saying the chart is crap.

I don't have any dogs in this fight either, I actually happen to love BOTH of these two cars (as well as Corvettes obviously).

What's surprising and kind of sad is I read an SVT forum yesterday on a thread on Corvette vs GT500 and the GT500 guys were doing nothing but praising the Z06 saying it is a badass car, amazing on a road course, etc.
Come back to the Corvette forums and people are just ******* the Mustang and defending how their Vette is better.
Personally, I've never been a Mustang fan other than the sound but the new one looks pretty cool to me and performs well. What's not to like about that?

Well I can't speak for the new GT500, but I did get a chance to see a few ZL1's race last Friday and honestly I wasn't too impressed. There was two of them at SIR and I think the best time was 13.5 @ 109. However, in their defense, they were fairly new, less than 1000 miles on them and the DA was over 7k. I was only able to run a 12.0@127. Who knows with more seat time and better DA/Track conditions we may see 11's out of them with sticky tires.

The only things that realistically matters to most people buying fast cars are:
1.) Which is faster on the street from a light or a highway roll
2.) which "feels" better to the owner...some like the lightweight and nimble feel of a 3100 lb 2 seat sports car every day, whereas some value a 4 seat heavier more comfortable car
3.) which looks better to the owner
Reality is that the mustang GT and GT500 have nice interiors (nicer in my view than the Camaro and Vette), are great values/performers, and are nice looking. Reality also is that a 2013 GT500 kills the ZL1 on the street (half a second in the quarter is huge to those people who don't think it a "big" margin), and will run with or beat a Z06 on the street as well. Stock. When cheaply modified it will kill most any stock vehicle on the street, and when you throw $10k in a 4.0/4.2 whipple, headers, exhaust, CAI, tuning, etc on a 2013 GT500, you will have a car that will probably run 150+mph quarter miles...which is in VERY rare company for street cars.
The GT500 will never handle like a 3100 lb Z06, nor will it brake like one. But COME ON GUYS..........what percentage of Z06 drivers ever go to road course tracks to use the handling or braking advantage? 5%? maybe? what REALLY matters is that when your out driving your Camaro, your going to get embarassed by a 2013 GT500..when your driving your Z06, your going to have your hands full, and when you catch one that has been modified, you better have a nasty H/C/I/E Z06to keep up.
Z06 guys shouldnt be defensive and tout "well we have better handling and lap times and braking". Who cares about any of that stuff when your watching a GT500 pull ahead of you on the highway? Loosing a street race sucks...period. The Z06 is still (arguably) the best overall performance car for the money that was ever made. The GTR is faster, and the GT500 is as fast or a tad faster. Period. Dont loose sleep or argue points, and say "it has a blower so it should be faster"...just accept the *** kicking and move on. Or better yet, mod your Z to keep up.
