[Z06] what is lifespan of tpms sensors?

What tim414 said is probably a good time to think about replacements. If you're getting new tires or wheels and your tire pressure sensors are older than 7 years or so, you should probably consider getting new ones.
The C5 sensors were advertised to have a life of 7 years or 100,000 miles.
The only thing they say about the C6 sensors is that they have a "design life" of 10 years. Some may make it a little longer, and some will die before they get that old.
Some high end TPMS tools can do a good diagnostic check of sensors. Below is a picture of my OTC 3833, and the official GM tool (J-46079) looks exactly the same but has a little different software loaded in it:
In the upper left, the first icon is the battery in the tool, the next is an antenna symbol that blinks when the tool is receiving a transmission from a sensor, and the third (that dark triangle) tells the strength of the transmission from the sensor and indicates the strength of the sensor's battery.
When that triangle is fully filled in and completely dark, the sensor's battery is strong and the sensor should be serviceable. If the triangle is only partly filled in then the sensor's battery is getting weak.
The other stuff on the screen confirms that the sensor sent out a good signal - the screen is displaying the sensor's unique ID#, the pressure (0.0 because it's not pressurized in a tire), that it transmitted in the learn mode, and the 315 MHz is the frequency the sensor transmitted on.
So.....a tire shop or dealership with a high end TPMS tool should be able to give you some idea of the battery strength in your sensor.

Melting Slicks
I just had two go bad on my 997 Turbo and they were just about 5 years old, replaced all four when I had a service done. My guess is they might last about as long but the Corvette one's are much cheaper, about 1/2 the retail price. They can change them without taking the tires off the rim.

GM used to claim they lasted approximately 10 years but many people have seen much less. Time varies considerably based on how much you use the car. As I recall they transmit every 60 seconds when moving. When the car is off for more than 15 min they go into sleep mode and only transmit every 60 minutes.

They can last as little as one month, maybe less. I installed two Dorman sensors that I got from Advanced Auto Parts in a set of track wheels on 4/26. I had to replace one of them last week. However, they hadn't been on the car since the fifth of May so I don't really know when the one crapped out. It may have only worked for a little over a week.
