No Z06 till 2016 LS3 rules.
No Z06 till 2016. It will be smaller in displacement but will be 600 plus in H.P.
The C7 LS3 will be downsized to 385 H.P. to meet Government mandated Corporate average gas mileage of 35.5 mph by 2016. Not that it will average 35.5 but it has to be a player in the corporate average program.
The C7 will be smaller and lighter the the C6. It will be just as fast because of the weight and size reduction.

At the very worst, the new more fuel efficient Direct Injected LS3 (or (LS5 or LS8 whatever it may be called) will remain at 430hp with even a potential bump to over 450hp (some say as high as 475hp but that might not be realistic if the car also incorporates notable weight reduction), in my opinion.

BS post of the day. For one thing, the C7 will have the Gen V small block V8. It will not be an LS3 which was Gen IV.

Gen V was announced 5 years ago.

LS3 will not be in the C7. That is a FACT. LS3 is Gen IV architecture and C7 will have Gen V. So, with this fact in mind, I dismiss the remainder of the OP's post.

Perhaps the new base engine will be only 385hp but I HIGHLY doubt that GM/Chevrolet would help the Corvette commit that kind of suicide.
Now, 385hp could work wonderfully if the car also weighed in at only 2600 pounds but that is NOT going to happen with all of the standard luxury/accoutrement that are typically included on modern Corvettes.
I personally wouldn't mind a 'Lotus Elise style' Corvette, but most of the buying public of course would.

Hey guys,
What is it that upsets so many of you about this post.
No I did not get this info out of a book nor did I make it up. As I said I can't reveal the source but it is creditable and I have known this guy for years. He sells and tracks Corvettes and that is his life. I am a senior citizen and quit spreading BS stories long ago.
If any of you feel offended I apologize.
By the same token I stand firm on the information I have given you.
I used the LS3 designation out of happenstance. I don't know what the name of the 5.5 GM will give it for the Corvette.
camirocz Sorry I torqued you mind. I have a feeling it happens quite regularly. Do you slam dunk everybody that rubs you the wrong way. I know the winters are long in Montreal and your probably not yourself.

It's one thing to have a flagship car (ie the ZR1) that does everything well, and it's another thing to have one of your best-selling and world-recognized brands to hari kiri itself over a 385HP motor in the first year of new model production, given the current price/HP wars we're seeing across the board in comparable cars. Ford will sell a **** ton of Mustangs because of the GT500 and associated press; but "Corvette" and "less HP than a 4-seater mustang" just really don't go together.
(See also, the numerous GT500>Z06 because of HP rating threads).
It happened in 82/84 I suppose, but I don't think we're "there" yet.
