The sky is NOT falling
Livernois Motorsports of Dearborn Heights, Michigan has managed to squeeze massive horsepower out of a nitrous-fed ’08 Z06 using a substantial performance upgrade that they call their “Stage 3″ conversion. A combination of head and cam tweaks, the upgrade is good enough to make 630 rear wheel horsepower on the motor alone and 729 on the bottle.
But according to Livernois, the 100-shot of juice on their Stage 3 was actually a little bit of an overkill; the Dearborn Heights builder claims that the red Z06 was actually capable of running a 9.93 pass at 139 MPH naturally aspirated. The Stage 3 conversion itself, however involves much more than just a radical nitrous boost.
The 729-horse Z06 was tuned by Livernois and uses a set of long tube headers and an x-pipe from Kooks to exhale all of its unbridled fury. In our featured video, we see firsthand how all of their Stage 3 tweaks have paid off as the red ‘Vette runs a 9.51 pass at 148.59 MPH with a stock transmission, bottom end, rearend and half shafts.
The nitrous-shot might have been, as Livernois Motorsports claims, a bit too much for an LS7-powered freak of nature that was already pushing 630 wheel horses to begin with. But with a mid-9 second pass in a ‘Vette that’s using a stock gearbox and a factory rear, we’re glad that they went that route anyway!

Le Mans Master
someone should link this to svtperf. website in the 2013 GT500 section, Lethal just sprayed a slightly modded juiced GT500 to a 9.77.

Yup the sky isn't falling because I'm sure Livernois did bronze guides with SS valves.
Awesome build though and nice times too. Shows what a properly built Z06 is capable of.
600 + rwhp Z06's are a blast .

I plan on using a 100 shot once my motor build is finished but I got forged diamond pistons, bronze valve guides, dual valve springs, Livernois pushrods and SS exhaust valves...!!!

Actually, this car was built 2.5 years ago, it is still on the road today and he drives and races it frequently, both NA and on the bottle.
Actually, we didn't. This car is stock guides, and valves. The issue isn't in these parts, it's in proper valvetrain setup. We have never had any cammed ZO6's fail that we have built. Nor have we had any come through the shop that are failed. We have seen loose guides once or twice, but these were only on bone stock cars.
As posted above this car was done over 2 1/2 years ago and no problems at all, it had our stage 2 package on it since about 1 month after it was bought. So 4+ years on this car with a bigger cam then stock.
He must have really good credit, because he has been borrowing time for a good bit on this car and the "bank" hasn't put him in "collection"

This is the only forum that I am on, where people attack each other with very little provocation.
