Default Dropped valve - lowest mileage failure?

What is the lowest mileage reported dropped valve LS7 related to valve guide wear?

Anyone under 10k miles?

I kind of remember reading a thread how someone had their brand new LS7 drop a valve - something like 1500 or 2000 miles on it. I don't know if it was a Z06 or ZR1.

I don't think the issue is milage specific, people have had valves drop on young and old cars alike.

Search?

I think there was at least one guy who had a late-model (2010?) with out-of-spec guide wear at 4,000 miles. I remember thinking "geez, they must be coming from the supplier this way" but I'd hate to try to dig through the countless threads and posts on it...

CGZ06 reported he was getting new heads covered by warranty and he only had 400 miles. No valve was dropped but they exceeded the specification.

You are correct, I remember reading about it. Since I have a low mileage Z, and seeing a 2010 with 4,000 miles had a valve guide problem, got me VERY VERY NERVOUS !!!

If accurate, I think we can safely blame that one on being waaay out of spec from manufacture.

Hell, maybe we should be celebrating how long these hollow valves are lasting with horrible guide tolerances?

Has anyone made it to 80 or 100k miles? I like to see what the guide specs were at that mileage.

Here is the thread with more details. The pictures are at the dealership.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...ve-guides.html

That thread also made me conclude they are out of specification from the factory.
