I'm thinking of installing a set of DRM after market shocks on my 2012
zo6. I'm being told it will have a softer ride. The OEM shocks are beating me to death. Is there a chance it will void my warranty? Thanks for your help.

It will be slightly nicer, but if the car is currently beating you to death, it will only give you a few more minutes to live to be fair.

Wheel hop is vastly improved, but I wouldn't say it made the ride significantly better. I'd still do it again.

It won't void the warranty. The only thing that won't be covered is the Bilstein shocks. Of course if you break something else installing them don't expect GM to pay for the part you broke.

Thanks alot Bill, I'm gonna have freedom chevrolet in san antonio install the shocks. I 'll get back to you with my thoughts on the difference on the ride.

Lots of guys around here have bought those shocks if they did not do coilovers. It will not improve the ride. It will improve handling on bumps in corners and the way it rolls over bumps. Some say wheel hop....I've never had a issue w/wheel hop myself.

As Bill stated, it does not void any warranty. I've had mine a few years now. Their worth the money for what they add to the car in terms of driver confidence at speed.

I love my DRM Bilsteins. Between those and ditching the runflats, the car rides much nicer. But it will never ride like a Cadillac. It will still jostle you on messed up roads.

But it won't void the powertrain warranty because it's not part of the powertrain and they'd have to prove the suspension changes contributed to the failure.

Buy them. One of the best, and cheapest, means of improving handling.

I have the DRM Bilstein Shocks - I like the handling, but would not say the ride is softer - just the opposite. If you go with them, I'd suggest staying with the OEM mounts vs the optional harder mounts offered by DRM. That will help a little.

I have them in my Z, big improvement when navigating bumps at 60+ and the rear feels far more planted.

If you're really wanting a pillowey soft ride, somehow thinking a ZO6 isn't for you. Personally don't think the ride's so bad myself, nor either do some older work buddies of mine. My daily Pontiac GXP rides pretty stiff too, but kinda seems the norm to me. Don't think willowey soft cars that can't hold the the road, are even allowed to be producued today, let alone sprts cars.

An interesting thought... can F55 be retrofitted to the 'standard' C6 Z06? Especially an earlier model (2006-09).

You'll need a lot of stuff to make it happen, sensors, shocks, computer and who knows what else. It'd be a pretty involved effort, both labor and parts $$. I wouldn't expect to make it happen for less than $3k. You'd probably pick up some ride compliance, but many may consider it a "downgrade".

I was thinking hook up with someone taking their F55 off to upgrade to coilovers or whatever. Springs would probably have to be changed too. Mainly wondering if the central control module would plug into the existing car harness and be recognized. Hmmm.....
