Get painted ones covered with some type paint protection or you'll have chips in paint very soon- don't ask how I know this?
I know exactly how you know this! Perhaps I shall get this one after I get done beating crap out of the one I just got from RPI all over the crap roads here. Was thinking of having it vinyl wrapped (DIY) maybe that would protect it.

RPI does pretty good work, the ZR1 style I have has actually held up better than I thought it would, roads here suck it's not the part's fault. I'm wondering about the down force benefit with this piece though looks more cosmetic.

Are you recommending not getting one or would you still get it, if you had to do it over again?

The product quality was good from RPI, I am happy with that! The problems I have are that the roads are not friendly to low cars, not even my driveway. And, I will own that I am not used to how low the z06 i have is quite yet. I like this new design, I think it might save some grief if you have clearance issues and problems with curbs (I also got a curb alert) I certainly like the look over stock. Now, if there are some clever ideas to help bolster the protection of these parts via vinyl wraps in clear or colored, or any other products that would help with the rocks, debris and abrasion hazards that threaten the part, I'm all ears! My original OEM was all mangled on one side and look crappy, I was happy to see it go. And that just tells me that OEMs are not immune either, but they look like the dog's dinner. My Spoiler from RPI came flawless and within their allotted shipping time. I'd get one again (I probably will given my propensity to find all the bad roads and driveways) And this one looks like a good option.

Can this piece be installed without using the screws (use the 3m double sided tape)?

It is very difficult to protect against actual abrasion and damage as the car is so close to the ground. I tried gluing 1/8 inch rubber to the bottom to protect from abrasion only to have the paint crack when the fiberglass flexed as I exited a driveway. We just have to live with it and try to be dillegent. For nicks and bugs I put a coat of the 3m spray protector on it and it worked well.

Do you have models for the Z06. The site seems to only talk about C6s.

This will give you a little more clearance over ZR1.

I had my original splitter ripped off (hit remnants of a truck tire on a freeway), so some of the front cowl has some damage where the hardware attached to the splitter. Do you have any suggestions on repairing the holes (where the hardware screws go)? Or should I just drill new holes in the splitter to attach it to the front cowl.

That's terrible! I'd suggest drilling new holes through the splitter and up int the fascia.

Default zral-1 splitter

I just installed ZRAL-1 chin splitter on my 2013 grand sport. The splitter came with double sided tape and screws. I installed w/screws only. Does anyone know, is it necessary to use tape along w/screws?
A great addition to my GS, Looks Great!
