'08 Z06 oil pan issues?
I'm looking at buying an '08 Z with 25k miles that had its oil pan replaced under warranty in '09. Is that something to be concerned about?
The car is clean and was well taken care of but I thought this was unusual.
Should I be concerned? No other warranty issues or repairs other than a new MAF last year.
It also has new NT05 tires all around.

Definitely not normal. My 2008 has over 28K miles on it with no problems with the oil pan. Dealer could have stripped the threads on the plug while changing the oil. THAT is something to worry about. First time I let a dealer touch my Vette for an oil change, they bottomed it out trying to get it on the rack and scraped the hell out of the bottom of the rocker panels.

My 08 was had some leaking around the oil pan at one point. It wasn't a constant drip but would occasionally drip. I took it in to the dealership, they re-torqued all the pan bolts and all has been dry for the last 18 months.
Yours may of just had a bad gasket. I would not worry about it.

I have read that there was an oil pan leak issue on 08's (maybe others); perhaps related to that. Saw it on a lot of CarFax's when I was shopping. A forum search will probably turn up details.
Possible that only the gasket was changed but it got wrote up/entered slightly wrong.
If they have to drop the steering to change the pan or gasket I'd have the front end alignment checked.

Lot of misinformation in this thread. It is normal. It is common. There is a TSB out to get it replaced.
Don't worry about seeing that on the warranty work. Probably a good thing it has had it done and all is better now. I've got the leak on my 09, and havent had it taken care of...

Normal is a relative term. I think everyone knows what I meant by that. Thanks for coming in and sharing.

Not a big deal since it was fixed. Probably not a big deal if it wasn't fixed. Some people are just **** about oil leaks. I don't particularly care if a car leaves a drop or two over night. My 08 had a serious oil leak where it was dumping oil on the ground within seconds of stopping. Complete bottom of car was soaked in oil from the front stabilizer back and oil was spraying on the tires while I was driving. Took 3 shots to fix it. First, they replaced the oil cooler line since it looked wettest there, then they replaced the pan gasket and finally they replaced the front cover gasket.
The vast majority of cars and trucks leak a little oil. That is why the lane centers on highways (especially at bumps are so black).

My 06 had a leaking gasket at around 18k miles. Got the pan resealed and all is well. Seemed to be pretty 'normal' for these cars and not necessarily indicative of a larger problem.

If they did so in my dad's new (at the time) concrete driveway, the owner would be out there with a toothbrush, a can of solvent, and some rags
Which makes it all the more funny in hindsight when I was adding an aftermarket oil pressure gauge to my big block Chevelle. Removing a convenient galley plug from the block, I noticed no oil on the back of the plug. I wondered if the plug actually was in the oil galley. Well, one way to find out, I told myself.
I hopped in the car, started it up, let it idle a couple secs, and shut it down. With the galley plug removed, of course.
For some reason I was surprised at the quart of dirty oil that was now on my dad's pride and joy -- his fairly new concrete driveway
