Default Pfadt header install on a 06

These Pfadt tri Y headers are one of the best I have ever seen. This went on Lew's 2006 Z06. The welds are like work of art. It was one of the esiest set ups I have installed and best fitting. There were no adjustment needed and fit perfect! Enjoy the pictures.

my install was not so trouble free. my right muffler was an 1" further rearward than my left one. replacement pipe is better but still not right on the money. my wideband 02 bung hole was to small for the sensor to be installed. found this out after changing mid pipe for muffler issue. required pulling right header to enlarge hole. [ in talking with tech support they told me they were aware of the o2 issue. wtf why wasn't i made aware before installing. ] i am not very pleased with mine. glad your install went well

RFZ, you are not the only person that has had similar experiences with stuff from them.

That's odd, all the Pfadt upgrades we have installed all went on without any issues.

I am in the exhaust business for a living (MBRP Sales) and I must say that definitely a work of art right there. Solid looking product.

We install Pfadt components on a regular basis and we have never ran into any issues.

Good to hear.....Someone once told me that the gauge of a good company is not how they handle things when everything goes right (because when you spend your money it should). The gauge of a good company is how they handle things when things go wrong. Think about that one for a second

the photo above that shows the axle back connection shows the witness marks of how far the pipes slide into the stock exhaust. from what i see in the photo the mufflers are barely into the x pipe.

So how did they perform? Do you have a before and after comparison?

A company is truly defined by their support when a product fails, however in defense of Pfadt (& I've only bought their headers), they installed/lined up perfectly on my '12 GS dry-sump & their service/support was excellent when I had questions. The install instructions they sent were also the most comprehensive I've seen yet.

The only issue was lining up my stock bi-mode muffs; the right pair of outlet pipes are lower by @ 1/16-1/8"...almost impossible to tell w/out a tape measure, & it wasn't worth it to mention to Pfadt. I'll need to look into that wideband bung fitment before I go get it retuned however.

Default Headers

We have not done a before and after test yet on these. As Rick said install went fine and was done in about 4 hours.

As far as the length of the mid-pipe it is fine, it actually went in almost 2 inches. What you are seeing are the marks from the old double wide clamp.

This is not very comforting considering my are supposed to be showing up today.

So is everybody having the same problem or are the problems varied from set-to-set???

From reading RFZ's post #3 above it seems that there are 2 issues with the headers. Positioning of the mufflers about which he stated "my right muffler was an 1" further rearward than my left one". The second set he received he said that the "replacement pipe is better but still not right on the money". The second issues is "the wideband 02 bung hole was to small for the sensor to be installed".

The bigger issue imho is this statement concerning what happened after he realized that he had issues with the replacement set that he received and contacted the company "in talking with tech support they told me they were aware of the o2 issue". "wtf why wasn't i made aware before installing". This to me means they already knew about this problem and still shipped him those headers knowing they were defective (hoping he would just deal with it???).

Some people are reporting issues with the headers, others are reporting no issues. Occasional problems happen with everything, it's how the company deals with it that matters imho. Unfortunately though I do not see how you are going to be able to tell if yours will have an issue or not until you take your car apart and try to install them because based on RFZ's comments/experience it does not seem like the company is volunteering that info. So you either roll the dice or go with one of the more proven designs from the likes of ARH, Kooks etc.

I am sorry your first product was not up to our standards but it appears that we acted fast to correct your problem and now it is fixed. The 02 wideband sensor bunghole on kits produced early in production, were sized for many common widebands but unfortunately not all. I understand the sensor you own is common and because of that, all of our recent production units are sized for all common widebands. I apologize for the situation. We ahve even included the note in our instructions to call this out in case there are more people out there with early run kits.
