What is slickest transmission oil?
I Was running redline fluids in my 06Z that has 46k on the clock.
I had my rear end and transmission oil changed and the dealer put GM liquids back in.
Now the transmission does not shift as smooth as it did before, so I am going to change the fluids again.
This is the 3ed time I have changed fluids but wanted to ask you guys
what fluids do some of you use?
This could be benifitual to some of the othe guys on this fourm
Thanks for your inputs

I used royal purple because its readily available here in Germany. It made a nice improvement on my tr6060, but I wouldn't call it night and day. As mentioned above, it made a big difference on the cold 1-2 nibble. I'd choose amsoil of I could get it locally.

I switched to Royal Purple and it made a slightly noticeable difference in shifting in my '07. Not major but it could be felt. I'm sticking with it.

I had Redline ATF, and swapped it out for RP Synchromax. I think the RP is slightly better when cold, but the Redline simply felt much more buttery once up to temps.
When I change the clutch in the spring, I think I will drop the RP, and go back to the Redline, unless someone has direct experience with the Redline vs AMsoil Ultra Torque?

In my other car that has a PPG straight cut dog engagement gears, I would only run redline light weight shock proof.. A little different here, but redline did the trick. Dog box's already shift like butter, but once I went to redline from another brand, I didn't look back.
After two seasons I took it apart and inspected the gears and they looked brand new. I think a lot had to do with the redline
I know it's two completely different things here, but redline works great

Thanks Guys,
This thread might have helped others as well.
As I said in mY first post, had red line, dealer put Orem back in and shifting is harder than before the change and I have more than 30k on the redline.
I will switch back to redline
Thanks again

This is the fluid that AMSOIL recommends for both the C5 Z06 and the C6 Z06 and I've been running in my 02 Z06 at the track for years:
AMSOIL Torque-Drive Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (Product Code ATD1G)
More than happy to get AMSOIL products for forum members at dealer wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.

JNV255, what's all that green stuff all over your tranny gears..assembly lube?

Amsoil V Royal Purple
So I did the experiment over the last week. Drained out the stock fluid from the Tranny and installed new Royal Purple Synchromax. That was a big mistake as the effort to shift was noticeably harder. Drained that out and installed Amsoil Multi-vehicle Synthetic ATF. This worked much better. I've noticed from reading here that some of you have installed the Amsoil Manual Synchromesh Transmission fluid. From talking to the Amsoil peeps the Synchromesh Transmission fluid Does NOT meet the GM spec for the 6 speed tranny. The Amsoil Multi-vehicle Synthetic ATF does. So after it's all said and done I think I may have been better off just going to the dealer and getting what they recommend. I'm not really convinced the full synthetic is really any better than what comes in there stock. However the Amsoil is much smoother than the Royal Purple.

AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (Product Code ATFQT)
This fluid is AMSOIL's secondary recommendation for the Tremec manuals in GM applications with the primary one being the Torque Drive ATF I linked above (and use personally).
If you do go back to non-synthetic, what you will find is that the basestock shears down very rapidly as the molecules break, becoming smaller and leading to a drop in viscosity. Synthetics in general, and particularly those with high quality basestocks (they are not all the same) are very shear resistant and maintain their viscosity much better than mineral oil based fluids.
