[Z06] Pilot Sport Cup tires cracking

Pilot Sport Cup tires cracking
I have the 2012 Z06 Centennial with all options, including the Michelin Cup tires and lightweigt wheels. All 4 PS Cup tires have cracks on the sidewalls. I have brought it into the dealership for review and they are trying to get it covered under warranty, but their first attempt with GM was no. They are still working on it for me.
Does anybody else have cracking PS Cup tires.

What's the miles on these tires?
In any event tires are warrantied, although the warranty is from Mich/GY, not part of GM's 3/36. Oh and the warranty will be prorated insofar as what $$ credit is issued.

The PSC's are R-compound track tires that are legal for the street. I don't have experience with the PSC's, but when I ran Hoosier racing tires (on a full track car) I has the tires crack in the sidewall just below the treat on the full circumference of the tires. Since I was running them up to 160 MPH on the track I was concerned and went qand talked to the Hoosier tire engineers. They said "they all do that" and that it was not a problem.
That may be the case for the PSC's. It may just be a cosmetic concern, but that may not be easy to explain at some of the speed events around.
To be sure, you should talk to a Michelin tire engineer. As was indicated, Michelin would be who the warranty claim goes. These tires have a minimal guaranty, but maybe you will have a claim under "workmanship". See: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....t+Sport+Cup+ZP

tires are 6 months old with 1,900 miles. First response from GM warranty is the cracks are from driving in the cold below 50 degress farenheit adn not covered under warranty because these cracks are only cosmetic. They do look deep.

Same thing happened to camaro ZL1 owners. Tires aren't meant to be used under 50f and were cracking. They said it says that in the manual so screw off.

Your only recourse is the day you have to replace 'em.
Then, vote with your wallet.
I've cast many 'votes' against GY over the years. Have to admit to more than a little surprise hearing this coming from Michelin, though.
Apparently Michelin's trying to compete with GY in all the wrong ways.

unless your dealer spoke with the Michelin warranty rep I would ignore what they said and go find yourself a local Michelin dealer that is willing to look at the them for you. My dad is a retired Michelin dealer rep and ultimately he was the one who decided whether the tire would get warranty or not...most of the time the dealer have a good idea what he would approve or not and when in question he would pop in to approve warranty on a failed tire.

IF what you were told is true, there's no safety issue(s)?

The two problems I have always been told about R compound tires is:
1. Cold weather tends to crack them
2. After some number, not clear here on #, of heat cycles, they begin to crack

Can anyone comment on using the sport cups for nice weather, occasional drag strip use and possibly getting caught in a down pour?
Considering these or possibly NT05's up front and NT05r's in the back.

Other than the cracking in the tires, these tires are awesome for cornering, braking and accelerating when the road is warm. And quiet and smooth.
Dont work in snow or rain. I have my F150 for those days.
