Default Katech Clutch Install on a 2009 Corvette Z06

We just finished a Katech LS9x Clutch, Tick Master Cylinder and Katech Slave Cylinder install on a 2009 Corvette Z06. This what a Corvette Clutch should feel like.

Are you doing a clutch pedal relearn for the tick master cylinder since this is a 08+ car?

Not required for this 2009 Z06. This one does not have launch control and is just like the 06-08 Corvette Z06's.

So only the later Zs with launch control require the relearn?

The clutch is not cheap and for what you get, it is a great deal. The clutch come with:

Katech Aluminum Flywheel
Katech LS9x Pressure Plate and Clutch Disk (Twin Disk)
Tick Performance Master Cylinder
Katech Slave Cylinder
New Flywheel Bolts
All new -AN fitting Hydraulic Lines

The only thing not replaced is the reservoir and line going to the master cylinder. Most clutches do not even replace the hydraulics. This is a great clutch with a slightly stiffer pedal without using the return spring.

Katech Clutch $1399.99 (Comes with the LS9 Slave and that will cut ~$180)
Hydraulics $1299.99 (Master, Slave and Lines)
Install $1,150 (Includes the Tick Master which is time consuming and headers have to be unbolted and plugs removed)

Did you guys have to bake the flywheel to install it like it says in the instructions? I ask because no shop has an oven sitting there to cook parts. I just mine and everything will be installed soon but my guy said he doesn't have a way to heat parts other than a torch. Why would Katech make the pilot bore so small in the first place so as to need to be heated?

We want the proper amount of press at operating temperature. Since aluminum (flywheel) and steel (crankshaft) expands at different rates, the interference at room temperature necessitates heating before install.

So I am supposed to tell the shop to buy an oven to install my clutch?lol Ya that is going to go over like a fart in church. I guess I am sending the flywheel back then. This needs to be highlighted on the website on Katechs site as well as any vendor they sell to so people are not caught off guard with this. I got mine from another Zip and they had no idea this was needed for the install.

If they are thorough they can use a propane torch. If you take your time and get the flywheel to an even temperature over 200F it should slip right on. If you have to force it go back to heating it. It's not hot enough unless it slips right on. Every shop has a propane torch.
