Default Tear Down - Lifter / Cam lobe damage - Dumb Amount of Pics

Well I'm moving along with my tear down... slowly but surely. I hope to make a bunch of progress this weekend. Got the heads of just a little bit ago... Can't wait to install these pfadt headers (thanks to Matt @ FSP)

Major thanks to Erik @ Lashkey Motorsports. I purchased my PRC 265 heads, LS7S cam, 3/8 TSP pushrods, etc from him.

I have not pulled the cam out yet... Does anyone know what material the cam and follower roller are made of? I have high iron ppm in blackstone reports.... this may be part of it...a long with valve guide wear. what a clusterfuq! Glad i did this when I did.

Also very strange that my driver side stock exhaust did not have a gasket between the header and the cat piece. I always thought that side sounded strange. But also, the loud as hell ticking... could be cam. could be valves. jeez

Lifter looks effed. Did you know that going in? Any idea why?

Btw, I really think the exhaust on the dinner table is a nice decorating touch. Any chance of leaving it that way? Quite the conversation piece.

i just did my car also. i found the same thing when i took it apart. i was just doing the heads and took a look at the cam and lifters to make sure. one lobe starting to pit. started out to be a simple head swap. everything is brand new now. tight and quiet.

Cam/lifter wear would show up as iron.

Those pfadt headers on the table look awesome. I got a set installed in my car about a month ago. Really love them. They sure are pretty to look at!!!
Nice pics, good luck with the build.

if i could afford it, i would buy an extra set of headers and hang them from the ceiling with fishing line. They are beautiful!

16 new lifters and new lifter trays. Le Sigh
