Default new z owner here.. coming from m3

Hi all,

4 days ago i did a crazy trip to get new to me 2008 jsb z06. Im military stationed in germany, and been looking for a c6 for 4 years now. After every deployment i wanted to get one, but something else would pop up. When i looked at 08 c6, an STI came available for a good price, so i got it. Then deployed again and looked for a z, but a good deal on m3 came up... i put in almost $20k into it (600hp, supercharged e90). As i traveled around europe the mileage grew, so it was time to go back to my initial scetches... i found a z i wanted 2 days after i sold my m3, and a week later i was on c17 making a trip to california to pick it up. Left early on wednesday, flew into jersey, saw my brother for 20minutes, then flew to travis afb on thursday. There i rented the last car they had and drove 400 miles to santa barbara. Friday early morning i met with the owner, test drove and then paid for the car. Then drove 200 miles to long beach and dropped the car off at the port. Saturday i was on a plane to washington, and sunday im back in germany.

I cant wait for it to get here, so i can open it up on the autobahn... i hope its not much slower than my m3 at high speeds. Last year i did about 100laps on nurburgring, with best of 7:45, and i hope to take the vette there and better that time.

P.s. what are my options to upgrade the seats and steering wheel?

nice...do they not have any Z06s in germany? i would assume the price to re-sale would bump up if it isn't as common.

and most Z06 owners got Carvaggio money for interiors... they are sex imo

My work wouldnt let me go for any longer. Does it have to be a specialized shop to work the valve train? There are shops around here, but i dont think any have experience with vettes...

Welcome to the Forum Lots of good information here. I am not talking down to you, but I would recommend NOT turning off your nannies.....at least not on the street, and not until you have gotten used to your new car. These cars can bite you very quickly

Depends on where in Germany you are, but there are places here that work extensively on Corvettes and other GM cars.

Thank you for your service and take this advise about getting the heads looked at before making any Autobann runs.

I did the same going from a M3 to a Z. Totally different powerband on the Z. Much more torque down low and at mid where the M had it up top. My M was an ActiveAutowerkes GT35 turbo. I put twin GT30's on the Z. Redid the wheel and seats as well. Absolutely love the vette but it is a different car.
