Default 5K miles out of stock Goodyear runflats??

Has anyone else gotten this poor tread life out of their tires?
I have had it a year and driven maybe 5k miles and the tires are already about down to the wear bars.

This seems way out of the ordinary. I don't drive the car superhard, never been tracked a day, how are my tires almost gone? They have all worn evenly as well.

When were the tires made? Possibly dried out and worn quickly?

sounds about right

new 8/32....damn near at wear bars at 4/32 and are pretty much useless....thats why I went to Non RFTs ASAP....am running Nittos now....1/2 the price and if they last as long I will be ahead of the game...so far they are worlds better....I had General UHPs on it until they died....those things lasted a long time and handled real well....

of course the naysayer Michelin humpers will be along soon to tell you that you need to spend $3000 every 10K or you will not be able to take 1G turns on your way to work or everytime you drive your car if you don't conform

Tires were made 28th week of 2011. All 4.

Every thread on tires I see here people are getting 3x as many miles out of these tires.

Even the ones I had on my C5 lasted 20k miles and I didn't drive it like a grandma.

honestly I got 11K out of my first set but the last 3K I wasn't digging it and was afraid to drive it when it was wet...rain forget about it

I have seen people say they got 20K out of RFTs but I dunno how...then I see people post pics of tires down to the belts...

Don't worry, I can pull consistent 1.16Gs on my Nittos.

I like my NT-05's, it's just that the M PSS are better (I have both). The cornering grip on the PSS are better and the cost per mile will be less as I will get 1.5 to 2X the miles for 1.3x the price. Also I do high speed events where the W-rated NT-05 is not allowed to run to the speeds the (Y)-rated PSS are allowed to run, so for me the PSS are better overall.

5K seems too low. It would make sense if you drove it aggressively. I got 13K out of mine and could have gotten more, but there was no grip at all.

I got 13.5K (2-3 track days included) and the RR was corded, the others might have had another 2-3K max.

Got 6k (stock Goodyear's) on my 2006 with 4/32 left and no track time. Also even wear, will definitely trade them out for new Michelin's SS. I know that the tires are now seven years old and should be replaced. I was trying to keep the Z all original. Change the oil every year and still have the factory oil filter on the shelf. Don't ask me why!

I thought tire life on my Z06 was bad until I bought my Kawasaki. 2,400 miles and rear tire is done.

I'm just interested in going to non Run Flat tires............... I guess you can get a jack under your vette pretty easily ? Or, getting the car on a flat bed is no problem ? Seems risky ? How do you handle flats ?

My car had the OE tires when I got it at 8200 miles. Scored a set of PS2 ZP's for 1.1k so that's what it's running now.

The wide body cars tend to wear the inside of the front tires and the outside of the rear tires. It seems like the rears wear quicker than the fronts. The car is very sensitive to toe adjustments and you need to run almost 0 toe. The original tires on my car went 13K with the rears cording at that point and the fronts still sitting at about 4/32. I went through the replacement set of rear EMTs in 3K miles (corded the outside edges) due to too much rear toe in (had added more toe in to help settle the rear end down when exiting corners at the track). Even though the camber was set -1.3 in the rear the outsides still wore rapidly because of the toe in adjustment. I used to purchase used rear EMTs and found all that I purchased were worn on the outside even though the seller swore they were worn evenly.

As said before the EMTs only have 8/32 of tread when new and they are just as near the wear bars at 4/32 of as any other tire as the wear bars are set 2/32 on every tire. The Michelin run flats only have 9/32 so they won't wear much better if the alignment is off.

I had 8000 on mine and got rid of them. They weren't to the wear bars but they were close and they were so hard I didn't feel safe driving on them in anything less than 75 degree weather. 5000 is a little low but. What are your pressures and did you get an alignment after you got your car? The factory alignment was iffy at best on most of the cars I heard about.

9800 miles on my good years and down to the bars. Paid more money and bought michlines
Ran them to the nubs and bought another set of michlines.
The reason is 2 nd set got 28,000 miles for a third mor money and more thn three times the milage. Better ride better grip better tire.
Good luck.
