Default Anyone make a 180 deg. stat??

I think during recent mods my request for a 160 stat was missed but I haven't asked my modder yet. I do have the Dewitts rad. No issues really but car runs about 95/96 deg Celcius which is 200-204 F.....including a drive today and it's very hot here today.
I see plenty of 160 stats installed in the builds in this forum but fewer 180. If you know of the proper 180, please post your thoughts if you have and if you know the part number. thanks...........OR do I leave as is and better happy in that temp range??

I do prefer to run a little cooler though. thanks

Yeah, I tried both and found the 180 does not make much difference. It will run 192-198 on the freeway where the 160 will run around 178-185.

Red I'm not sure what a 180 would buy in terms of reducing the coolant temp. I've installed a 160 in my 07 and wouldn't go back. Living down here in the south and watching the coolant temps climb to 215 and higher at lights made me very nervous. It was so easy to install the 160, drain the coolant, disconnect the stat housing, install the new stat and refill the coolant. I didn't even have to disconnect any hoses. We took a long ride Saturday and in traffic the temps were around 203 and on the highway right at 183. This was in 93 degree heat. AC seems to work a little better as well. Just my 2 cents.

Nothing wrong with 215 coolant temps. You can get a 160 stat at almost any parts store, i know it's controversial but it's a waste in my opinion. Luckily it's only $10 (if you reclaim your coolant) but your time you never get back and have fun in the winter when your car never warms up.

The stock stat is a 187 FYI

Well that's true Eric. I don't understand the (Time you never get back) comment but it would be just as easy to reinstall your stock stat for the winter. I'm in the south so for me it's a year long issue, but for someone up north that's concerned a few hours to R&R a stat is not an issue. By the way have you posted your dyno numbers yet?

I lived in Dallas for 30 years and I still used my heater in the winter. I mean that unless you enjoy removing and re-installing thermostats it's wasted time that you never get back.

OP is already seeing 203 temps with his Dewitts which is the same as stock (i saw 203 temps in traffic 90 degree weather last week with my stock stat)

The car did 557 hp / 500 tq (adjusted for altitude obviously). I'm not totally happy with it though and I'm going to take it to another tuner soon.

thanks all. No worries about winter, it's a toy, don't drive in the winter and I do understand how a stat works, it will start to open at it's set temp and try to maintain that temperature, once wide open, cooling system with rad is doing all it can.......and then the fans help.

again, thanks all

I read somewhere that the vehicle needs to be tuned to properly take advantage of a lower degreed tstat.

Modified fan settings should be used.
