Werks Racing Katech Carbon Edition Z06 back for Track Attack 463 Engine
You may remember this car we did a while back:
It's back for another round of modifications. This time we're building a 13:1CR E85-powered Track Attack 463 engine and it will all be done for Track Attack 2013. I'll post build pics as we go.
Right now we're boring, honing and prepping the block. Also installing new Katech RHS-block piston squirters. The old engine is coming out of the car and we are scavenging the already bronze guide CNC-ported heads, ARE dry sump system, FAST intake, etc.

Jason, thanks for putting up a thread on the build! I can't wait to see the new RHS based engine build come together. For those that don't know this car started off as one of the 85 I believe it is inferno orange Carbon Edition Z06's made in 2011 and was shipped to Katech with a little over 2000 miles on it to get a simple cam installed. Once the car got there and the more Jason I started talking the clearer that it became to me that Katech is not only a place to go for awesome engine builds but that they have the knowledge, ability and resources to pretty much do anything from the simple cam install that I was planning on all the way up to a complete turnkey car build involving engine, interior, exterior and suspension. So.... what started off as a simply cam install started growing and growing and the car in the pictures (Street Attack #50) is what ended up coming back a few months later! (Jason you should put up a build list so that people can see all of the stuff that you guys did!)
You and me both can't wait to see the results! Based on my past experience working with Katech I have no doubt that I'll be happy! Get ready, once it comes back you guys are the one that are going to be maintaining the car
Thanks Don! Sorry that we are going to miss you this year at TA2013 it was a pleasure hanging out with you there last year! I've been getting a little bit more hardcore about tracking the car and have pretty much been spending 3-4 days per month at the track since I got the car back last year. So...I figured that it was time to "step up my game a little" lol!
Lol Mike, if I'm a hitter then I want to be you when I grow up
Thanks! A great group of people that I can't thank enough contributed a lot of time, knowledge and effort into getting this car built.
Regarding the weight I don't think that we ever actually weighed the car but I think that with all of the light weight parts, carbon, LiPo batter, light weight wheels etc. etc. we probably cut somewhere between 100-200 pounds out of the car.

Wow, you guys don't waste any time! Thanks also for posting the video, it's neat seeing some of the details that goes on "behind the scenes" to do a real professional level competition engine build that you normally do not see. When you think about engine builds you just picture a guy bolting together a bunch of parts so when you first mentioned to me that to build an engine like this you guys will have around 100 hours of labor involved it blew my mind! I was thinking a few hours at best but I guess it's all of the attention to detail that makes the difference between a traditional lower cost crate type engine and a true professional motorsport level build!
