Default Drove a McLaren MP4-12C at Hallett

Got to drive a friends new McLaren MP4-12C at Hallett yesterday. What a blast. Car had Hoosier R6's. Lap times are a bit faster than my 2008 C6 Z06. I was driving around 7/10 and doing low 1:23.2s. Impressive car.

Before I went on track he said, "have fun, I trust you and know you're good for it". At the time I thought he meant good for putting in some good laps. However, sitting here today I wonder if he meant something else....

He definitely meant you are paying if something happens to her.

I agree, but I struggle to see that car as a female.

My best times earlier this year at Hallett in my 07 Z were 1:28:2's, on NT05's. Stock except for brake pads and Bilsteins, FWIW.

I do 1:25:00 lap times in my 2008 C6 Z06 with BFG R1 tires.

McLaren was low 1:23's on Hoosier R6.

I drive my car significantly harder than I drove the McLaren, however, I think the Hoosiers are a bit faster than the BFGs.

I believe there are 3 seconds to be gained in the McLaren if I drove it as hard as my car. So, I figure the McLaren to be about 4 to 5 seconds quicker. That's a pretty big difference.

I also feel that a newer Z06 with the magnetic suspension and R6's would close the gap significantly.

Yeah, my comment was written tongue-in-cheek. I sort of figured tht's what he meant.....

The owner drove my Z06 the same day. I don't track my Z06 since I bought a race car so he was on street tires with ceramic brake pads. He was very impressed with the car and was surprised with the handling and power. He stated he had no idea they were such a capable car and has a new found appreciation for the car.

Cool! The 12C is the best handling car I've ever driven that also serves well as a daily driver. Around town, it doesn't complain or punish you for not driving hard. Yet, click a few ***** and stand on the gas... !!!

The hydraulic suspension was very impressive. I believe this as well as the Hoosiers R6's are what make it quicker than my 08 Z06 equipped with conventional suspension and BFG R1's. I think it would be awfully close to a Z06 equipped with magnetic suspension and R6's

I had both the suspension and power output options set on "track".
