13' GT500 Vs. C6Z -Questions.
Went to the Track a Few days ago and seen a 2013 GT500 with Pulley- Intake- Exhaust- Tune- tires etc etc - It ran a 10.7 @ 139Mph. Car only had 4500 Miles on it.
Right after it a C6Z came up to the line , H/C/I/E/Tune tire - etc etc - Ran a 11.2 @ 128mph. I spoke to the Z guy, he has the Fast 102 Ported and Zr clutch -wcch stage 2 heads milled the torquer cam ( I think )
The Z guy mentioned he would Hang with the GT500 from a Roll on the Highway.. and Said he has in the past, How is this even possible ?? there is a 11MPH trap speed difference ! Thats Hugh from a roll isnt it ?
Ive been doing some research and looks like those GT500 have no problems going in the 135+mph and Low 140mph trap ! I just dont see a C6Z hanging on from a roll. I saw some videos of a Z and gt500 run on youtube and looks like the Z hang on - maybe the gt500 int he videos werent modded highly ?
Whats the Deal here ?

The deal is that Corvettes are engineered to be fast in a road race,
while Mustangs are engineered to be fast in a drag race.
One should buy the car that is appropriate for the type of race that interests them.
BTW, a roll is not a race. It is perhaps a masturbation... whomever gets goosed first will probably 'win'.

The last 13 GT500 I raced I destroyed...simple fact that he couldn't put the power down. I could.

Trap -- Elapsed time or MPH ----
If you are focused on MPH -- then it depends on rwhp.
if you are focused on et --- then it is more than rwhp. cars with much less rwhp in some cases can do better on ET than cars with more RWHP.
Stock Z's are 440-460 rwhp and will ET - from 11.3 to 12 between 120 and 125mph.
MODS to a Z06 that bring it up to 500 to 550 RWHP - will get you 130-133mph.
Mods that get a Z06 to 600-650rwhp should get you close to 140.
ET is all more relevant to driver skill, track prep, tires and suspension set up.
Rustangs with 663 hp compared to a Corvette be it a 500 horseZ06 or 640hp zr1 are different beasts.
What do you want - to be a king at a road course - or a queen at the drags? sounds like you are most interested in the queen title.
Roll racing is fun and is a test of self gratification. if you are driving a c6 z06 its easy to win roll races, from a 40-50mph roll starting in 2nd gear.

40 roll you want to start in 1st not 2nd, 50 roll ya 2nd is what you should use. That Z should trap low 130s on a good run with good driver since it has a Torquer which isn't exactly much of a cam for drag racing

The mustang hates makes me sad. They are great cars.
Stock 13 GT500 puts down ~600rwhp. With those mods it is going to be upwards of 700rwhp. So like they said above, from a roll you need about a 125-150hp advantage in the mustang because of the weight/aero. That z06 would probably be in the 550rwhp range and the mustang pushing 700-720rwhp. If the GT500 can hook it will easily pass run away from the Z from a roll. GT500 have traction issues with the ton of torque. If they get a decent tire they run great.
And people saying they can't turn haven't driven one. While they aren't in the same league as a z06 they turn very well and are quite nimble for their size.

There are no Mustang "hates" in this thread. Rustang is a term of endearment. ---- Heck I would probably trade my Z06 even up for a brand spanking new 663hp rustang. - don't be so sensitive

Great time for the GT500.. sounds like he knows how to drive.
Sounds like the Z06 owner doesn't or he was on street tires. But even on street tires that is a bad trap.

It's not about being a king or queen of anywhere I was trying to figure out why a car that traps 10mph more on the 1/4 mile would hang with a car that traps less from a roll . I personally prefer roll racing . Not sure if you guys are up on it but roll racing is becoming Hugh and a lot of people prefer it nowadays . Infact if you guys look up the event slip stream they have roll racing And drag event at the tracks . I also came across another vid from that event where a h/ci/e tunned z ran mid 11s at 125ish while a gt500 ran into the 140s .. Look up slipstream and you'll see the videos

I own a 08 C6Z and love the car but this gt500 is starting to look real good , not sure why some of you are being immature with " drag queen" comments and calling roll racing a ************ sport , it makes no sense
