The size of the sump tank increased in 2009 and up models.

Your oil fill is 8 quarts.

8 will get me between the bottom dot and middle dot when oil is checked according to the manual.

And BTW Victory Red, make sure you follow the correct procedure for checking your oil for the dry sump to guard against overfilling.

8.5 quarts puts me on the middle dot, but I've found this to result in higher incidence of getting oil into my intake so unless I was doing road course driving, I'll stay at 8.

Of course, others may have different results and do fine at the middle dot.

Does your car have an owners manual? Look in the glove compartment. If you don't have one, I highly suggest you get one. Look on the big auction site, you can probably find one there.

Because if he doesn't know the capacity, he also needs to know the procedure.

Remember that you don't check it cold. The car needs to be ran and up to temp then you wait 5-10 minutes to check the oil. If you just add 7-8 quarts it won't even show up on the dipstick cold and you will keep adding and land up overfilled. I would start with 7 and then add until it is where you want it. Zs are picky about overfilling. I overfilled once by about a quart and it all just got burped out into my oil filter causing a huge mess/smoke/dripping/nasty time.

I was able to find an owners manual pdf for download. Not the Helms but the glove box owners manual.

Try that.

Lol thanks everyone owners manual says 8 qts total, put 7 in first start it for a few seconds let the oil circulate then add the 8th quart putting all 8 all at once could cause it to overflow Any filter suggestions tho?

Not what I would do. I would add 7, let the car warm up then check it per the owners manual and add more oil until it is where you want.
