It is really a shame that the LS7 is getting the bad rap that is has. It is otherwise an incredible engine and if someone could figure out exactly what is wrong it would really become a collectible car with that motor. But this issue and GM's silence on it is destroying the cars legacy and our confidence in them standing behind future products. GM should figure out what it is and fix it and at least offer new parts and service for repair at a discounted rate, especially to those that have remained bone stock and not abused their cars.No one is looking for a handout, but peace of mind would be really nice in this situation.

As far as being fixed...no they haven't been.
As far as the choice between a C7 or a 427 vert...neither.
Just my opinion so don't take my post as being offensive, just the truth.
Obviously I favor the C6 ZR1 out of any Corvette model, but If that were out of the equation I would simply have to go another route.
Good luck with your choice.

2020 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Look, this may be a generational thing, but I would go a C6 427 Z06, or 'vert; especially the vert vs. a C7, all day long, forever. There are going to be a ton of C7's...there are only mid year and some C3 427 verts and the 2013 427 verts, that is it, no more. To a lot of us "older" folks, the lore and rep associated with a 427 is just too huge.

C7 for sure if going this route. In my eyes all the GS is a base w/ Z06 styling, nothing special about it. Regardless if the 427 has valve issues, id still take that over the c7. Awesome N/A power from that 7.0 monster. Id just get the heads checked and probably mod it. Come on C7Z come out already!!!

Yes...me and the "very minimal" "coincidental" LS7 failures, along with GM's stellar response to the "non-problem"
No offense taken sir.
What?...You mean the ZR isn't just a converted Grand Sport???
News to me...

I told GM that until they let us know what is up with the ls7, I will post all over the net that the c7 has Camaro lights!

usual BS responses "I'm so glad I sold my Z06, now I have a new <fill in blank> and love it so much!" yeah you love it so much you are still coming on a Corvette forum and reading about Z06s.
If you sold your car great for you, go enjoy you new free time, your new car, your new money ect ect

Its a shame. I read this forum for a LONG time before I finally signed up. People didn't used to be so crappy to others here. Not sure what changed.

Funny but true! I still want to see the publication/place where GM admits a head machining issue. Not someone saying that GM admits it, but a GM rep.
I say get which car you want the most, leave it stock, grab an extended warranty, and enjoy the heck out of it. That's what I did, I sleep fine and can't wipe the smile off my face with I'm driving it. It's a stock HP engine with 11.1 compression aka street race car.

In this thread, titled: "Valve issues fixed in '13 427 verts?", a poster replied:
Since I did not recall hearing of any guide/valve issues in these cars, I asked:
To which the poster replied:
Clearly, anyone interested in a serious, factual answer to the OP's question should disregard the answers quoted above. The absence of any reported valve/guide issues on these late model cars cannot be taken as evidence that they won't occur so the proper answer is "we don't know". However, if one does the wiggle test periodically then the possibility of an unexpected catastrophic failure can almost surely be eliminated.
As to the handful of bearing failures we've seen on the late models, an oil analysis each and every oil change would stand a good chance of catching that before it becomes terminal.
Bottom line, be diligent in preventative inspections and maintenance, address any problems that crop up, and enjoy the car.
