Default dealer service question

I had to have the cam and rockers replaced on my "never-tracked" or abused Z at 50K miles. There was pretty significant wear on four of the rockers and cam lobes. It was covered under warranty so I didn't really have anything to complain about. However, my car just doesn't seem to rev as freely (or as high) as it used to. 5500rpm feels like 6500 did before the change. I hate to think the dealer put in a different cam and can't imagine why they would do that other than a mistake.
My question for y'all is: What is the easiest way to assess the specs of my new cam without removing it from the car? Curiosity and missing those easy revs are keeping me up at night..

With a little dis-assembly you should be able to use a dial indicator and a degree wheel to get a good idea of what's in the car. Does that help?

Wouldn't it be easier if you went to the dealer's parts department to ask what cam the part # calls out? That way you'll know if they installed the correct cam.

The only way to know for sure is to check the lift with the dial indicator.

with you that a dial indicator will check an unknown cam to find its lift. My reasoning is that the parts department got the cam they ordered. Checking the part number on the repair order could determine the cam the service department used.

Maybe the worn cam and rockers produced the un-documented feature of a more free revving motor.

I would be more worried about the timing chain being a tooth off that I would the cam being wrong

That's why I suggested the degree wheel on the crank in addition to the dial indicator for lift. You should be able to see when the cam lobes are opening, and what the duration is.
