How 'bout that. Nice to see for sure.

My heads are off my car right now sitting on the table in my living room ready for guide measurements when I have a chance, probably on Sunday. If they are out of spec they are being shipped to WCCH on Monday.

EDIT: For clarification - I am not sending them to WCCH based on this video, I had already decided that. But it is nice to see at least one set measured and looking good after 12k miles.

Not the most precise form of measurement. Nice to see his heads are in good shape though.

I'd sure like to know what the original guide clearance spec was from WCCH and then a real measurement of the guide bores at the 3 usual points.

Normally stay out of threads like this, but nice to see some preliminary results on a preventative maintenance upgrade many of us, including myself, have done.

I may get shunned for this, but I feel that while this is quite a positive sign, I don't think 12k miles is enough mileage to fully understand durability over the long term. However, we have to start somewhere and the more mileage we put on heads like this, the better understanding we'll have. I'm optimistic based on this video though.

Quick question about these heads. I assume bronze guides & SS valves? Lastly, anyone know what type of environment these heads were used in? A cruiser? Track day car?

I'll be glad when we all can put this behind us. I pretty much stopped visiting because thats all anyone spoke about around here.

Well, not especially, as it has been long known by those familiar with their work, that they use, and have been using, a longer than stock length manganese bronze guide.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...post1582751166

What else they may be doing differently though, is not clear at this time, and they are mum about it.

Again though, I'm glad to see that Chad pointed this out in his video. He's been under the weather, but still found time to show what he had found, and kudos to him for that.

He recommend that I check my own heads at 12K miles.

As it was largely his advice which led me to make the decision which I did about these particular cylinder heads, and he has yet to steer me wrong when it comes to this whole thing, I will probably end up taking his advice on this matter.

I think it was reported that WCCH uses 1/4" longer guides than OEM. The longer guides due to more surface area would probably reduce guide wear.

Maybe someone thinks that the LS7 has a problem with excessive valve stem side loading?

EDIT: You beat me to the punch Quick!

update did a wiggle test on a 06 z06 with 12k miles on wcch heads, there was no play in any of the valves. owner is changing out cams so I will be pulling these heads to remove cnc lines while he is ordering parts...wcch stage 2 port work, rev ss valves bronze valve guides...I know this is still low miles but they are really tight. I can do a vid on these heads if needed

Low miles but good news. About time we have see some inspections coming in. Personally I would like to see more independent results but at least its a start.

Thanks. Solves the guides & valve question, still curious about the usage.

Another question. Was it cammed before? I know it says he is switching cams, but not sure if that means he is going from one to another, or from stock to modded. I'm not asking if you know (if you do, then great ) but rather, just a question in general if someone knows this car.

Awhile back, forum member Z06pos made a thread on this forum.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...alves-bad.html

If you look at his first post, then you should be able to get the information that you are asking.

Good luck.

I clicked, read the first post, but it isn't clear. Is this the same car/heads?

Also didn't see anything about cam or usage.

No, it isn't the same car.

The first car being discussed in the thread which Z06pos points to, is his own car, which had heads done by another shop. Those heads were out of spec at 10K miles, and that is what his thread on this forum, and the discussion other one he points you to is about, and what the video he points you to, depicts.

As that thread progressed, and as the debates on this forum continued along with it, another set of heads from another car were to be examined.

I was told, during the debates which occurred some time after Z06POS's mishap, that access to a set of heads from the shop mentioned above in this thread had been gained, and that an examination of that set of heads mentioned at the title of of this thread which you are reading now, was forthcoming, and that a video of that examination would be made, and to expect to see it just before Christmas.

So this time a set of heads from the shop mentioned at the beginning of the thread which you are currently posting in on this forum, is what is being shown at the latter parts of the discussion which Z06POS points you to.

The first set of heads in the thread which Z06POS points you to, are his heads.

The second set of heads in that discussion which Z06POS points you to, and the video of them, is with regard to the heads being discussed in title above.

I think that .0022"-.0026" is very good.

One other point which should be made, is that the videographer has All Pro heads on his own car done by the same shop which did the heads that he is showing you in that latest youtube video, and has mentioned that they too are in spec.

Is it true that with the SS valves, it's not smart to rev much past 6k due to them being heavier?
