ls7 to lsx in zo6, who has done it?
Like the title says, who has done the swap? I'm highly considering selling my ls7 and swapping for the gm lsx 454. I'm wondering what the difference in power would be between it and a heads cam and intake ls7. I know weight is about a hundred pounds difference, how does this affect the handling of the car? Is not like I road race it or autocross but I do love taking the twisties up in the hill country nearby. I've considered a resleeved ls2 or ls3 shortblock of 440 or bigger but I like the idea of having a 2 year/50k mile warranty from gm. So for those who have done the swap do you like it, love it, wish you would've went a different route etc. Let me know guys, thanks!

Nothing wrong with LSX but I wouldn't do a GM 454 LSX. I don't like the cam/heads/etc. If you pull it apart and start swapping to stuff that makes good power you have no warranty.
Might as well keep stock motor and just do a nice heads/cam setup. It will make more power and be a better motor IMO. If you want a big motor for a bit extra torque then just do an ERL/RHS block. I wouldn't add the weight for a n/a application.

The lsx 454 is for old resto mod guys or people who just want to brag about a 454. Anyone actually going for performance will build something else IMO.

Good thread here. Im selling my LS7 currently to go LSx. GM 454 is good if you wanna stay stock NA but if you are planning to go boost compression is too high.
Also, what are some good vendors to go with for a customer LSx motor or a forged LS3....

I'm not looking into boosting the car, budget doesn't allow for a turbo set up lol. My motor build is being funded part by what I get from the ls7. If you just looking to getting a forged bottom erl gave me a good price for a sleeved shortblock and I want try trick flow genx255 heads, ls3 or ls7. I just have to wait and see what I get for my motor.

Makes 618rwhp/569rwtq SAE 5 and it has fat torque curve.
It's not worth spending the money on a stroker unless your current engine is broken.
