Default battery tender

I have a 2011 z06 carbon. Do you hook the tender to the battery or connections under the hood ? My car was struggling everytime i went to start it, with original battery, so i hooked up the tender to the battery terminals and the next morning still charging ? I figured the battery was shot so i bought a knew one. The new battery has been on the charger for 4 hours now and still showing red. Shouldnt it of leveled off by now ?

Depends on what kind of tender you have, but in general charging all night may be necessary. Check it again in the morning.

I suppose the underhood terminals will work as good as connecting directly to the battery.

Yep I leave mine on when not in use. I just hooked the positive terminal to the fuse block at the jump start leg and there's a bolt for the negative close by. I do however have to leave the hood in the open position and also lay a towel on the fender where the wire crosses.

The terminals under the hood are designed for jumping the battery . If you were still red after 4 hours its no big deal. It just needs a longer charge.

I use the terminals under the hood as well but I drop the leads down through the engine compartment to the garage floor and run the wires out under the front of the car so I can leave the hood closed, not have any wires running across body panels and have my car cover on.

Exactly the same method that I use. I run the quick connect through the front grill and zip tie to the upper right corner. I connect every time I park the car and quickly disconnect when I choose the drive the car.

Try the cigarette adapter piece, works awesome, no lifting hood AND with it going across the drivers seat, there is no way to forget about it and drive down the road...

I installed the Mag Charger connector that slips on the grill. No more opening the hood to charge with my Battery Tender. Great device.

The CTEK charger comes with a short tail that can be screwed to the battery posts and will come out around the battery cover. It can then be plugged into the charger without having to get back into the battery compartment.

I had that originally. You still need to open the hood to get to the pigtail. The Mag Charger eliminated that step.

Yes, you can use jumper cables, it should work. If you don't know how to do that, you can jump start your car even without those cables. There is an article on otopartshop.com about how to jump start a car. It is very detailed, so I think that everything should be fine. I had a similar issue a couple of months ago and this article has helped me very much. Read it attentively and to exactly what is written. In such a case you will start the car!

My nice DieHard smart charger ($30 at Wmrt) came with clips, pigtails and a cigarette lighter connection. I always just put the driver's window down a 1/4" and run the power wire thru the window, have charger on the floor and power plug in the empty lighter slot. Extension cord if needed to a wall socket.

That way you will never forget you have it connected.

You can use the cigarette lighter port, the terminals under the hood, or connect right to the battery posts, your choice

Can you post a pic or link to this connector?

I also use the cigarette lighter, across the passenger seat, and out the window.
