From a Z07 to a new Viper...
UPDATE:
The results are in and thanks to the tremendous support I received, the Viper came out on top. I'm going to SEMA!
I've been a "Vette guy" since I was a boy and aspired to owning one all through my 20's. I finally achieved this this goal in 2006 when I purchased a new C6. 8 years and 3 consecutive C6 Corvettes later I decided it was time for a change. I traded in my 2011 Z07...
on a new 2013 Viper. I've had the car about a month and all I can say is WOW, I love this thing! I welcome any questions you guys might have about it. You can find a bunch of cool photos of it here.

Do the new Vipers still have the foot pedals offset to the left? I drove a 94 and the pedal offset had me hitting the brake when I wanted to hit the clutch. Didn't like that feature although I probably could have gotten used to it.

Thanks for the positive feedback!
I've always thought Vipers were awesome but they've never been within my financial ability. Due to the unfortunate sales issues they're experiencing with Vipers of late, I was able to negotiate the price down into Z06 territory. I have always heard the horror stories of how dangerous the Viper can be and was a bit apprehensive when I first got it. After driving it for a month I can now say that, while not as civilized as a Corvette, it isn't difficult to safely operate; even when driven aggressively.
This is the first Viper I have ever driven so I cannot comment on the pedal layout of the previous generations. That being said, the Gen V pedals do not feel offset to me and I feel completely comfortable with their location.

G****MN That thing is a sexy beast! Perfect choice on the paint combo, you have great taste! Congratulations on the acquisition!
Any comments on the performance differences? Does it feel more raw vs the Z or more refined? Which interior do you prefer? Which one feels more "bang for buck?

In my assessment, the Corvette and the Viper are almost nothing alike. I'm not sure raw is the word I would choose as the Viper feels more upscale then my C6 Z. It does however feel much more animalistic. The sound of the side exhaust is intoxicating and the torque is incredible! The Z06 was easier to drive but not nearly as exciting. I cannot comment on the comparison to the C7 interior as the C7 Z06 hasn't been released yet and I've not been motivated to check out a base C7. I much prefer the new Viper interior to the C6 Z however. The "bang for the buck" question isn't as easy to answer. I do not believe the Viper is worth it's MSRP but at the prices they are going for now it was an easy choice for me.

Awesome color, awesome car.
As for the unsafe/etc the new ones have TC and much better tires/handling so I don't think that is an issue anymore.

Nice Viper sir!
When I was in the market and looking at Vipers I couldn't afford (still can't) a 2013 but that is the only year worth buying IMO. Before 2013 no: abs, traction control, launch control, no nannies... for me any year before 2013 is a death trap.
Question: I heard that the heat from the drivetrain is unbearable in the cabin after a short time... what are your thoughs?
