Default 2006 Z06 Electrical Issues

Ok guys, today while traveling to the Corvette Museum, about 30 miles south of Bowling Green, my 06 Z06 with 31K bone stock went bat crap crazy with the electronics. First alarm was service active handling soon, then the A/C quits, lost the fuel, temp,& oil pressure gauges, the low fuel warning displayed, then the ABS warnings started and the exhaust baffles opened. I continued to drive and within the next 10 miles eventually the systems restored except for active handling. Ten minutes later, same thing again. 340 miles into the trip outside temp approx 95 degrees.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this and may have an idea where to start. 2 months out of GMPP Warranty. I know GM is recalling Corvettes for the heat related Headlight issue, but 06's aren't being included in the recall.......related issue?

Any help is appreciated....

Sounds like you need a new battery.

I'd check for any corroded and/or loose connectors (between ECU, EBCM, TCM, etc.) to start with.
I have experienced (intermittent) SAH and ABS warnings as well, but no loss of gauges, etc.
I am not an expert myself, but my mechanic found out that the connectors were the culprit. I've had no more issues since.

My car is a 2006 Z06 as well BTW.

Sounds like the same symptoms I had with my '08'. As stated above, check for corroded, loose connectors and grounds. If that checks 'ok', the BCM may be your problem at least it was on mine. There is a Tech bulletin on the BCM to tighten the pins and lube them. The bulletin no. is #09-06-03-004E. The dealer accomplished this on mine as I was under warranty but its something you could do at home if your technically inclined.

Check the battery first but it sounds like you could be intermittently losing communications with the ECU.

Were you in the car by yourself? I ask this as this has happened to me in my Z06. Turns out that the wife was pushing in on the corners of the passenger side floorboard causing the HIGH SPEED DATA BUS (THE BIG BLUE CONNECTIONS) to temporarily loose connectivity. Since all the data goes through the data buss the car acts stupid. If you have the dealership pull the codes there will be 47 different ones non of which are real. To fix this problem you will need about a foot of the high density floor mat you can buy at COSCO a pair of scissors and some 3M body side molding tape. Cut a one and one half by three inch piece and use the two sided tape to adhere it to the rectangle box on the BCM. Be sure and leave room for the screw in case you need to remove it. Next cut a one and one half by 9 inch piece and adhere it to the right side of the passengers foot-well under the cover against the bulkhead on the small ledge. You might have to cut it to size. Once you do this test out and see if the cover will still rock, it should not. I did this fix and have had no problems since. There is a thread on the forum using pink erasers, I like the foam since it is lighter and looks better.
