Default **Redline Motorsports big cube ZO6 torque maker**

This was a fun build we just completed...customer wanted NO drivability issues.....this meaning NO surging, bucking, erratic idle and good start up..so we opted to build a 454 cubic inch motor with MAST Motorsports 285cc heads, one of our custom big cube street grinds topped off with a clean calibration....

Is that an iron block build? Lot of extra weight to be lugging around on the front of the car! Also noticed that the engine only makes over 500 ft-lb of torque for something like 1200rpm then you dropped the red line down to 6.5k is that because of SS valves?

The customer wanted the LSx block because the motor might be sprayed with a 200 + shot in the future. Also note sure what dyno sheet your looking at but ours shows 500+ foot lbs from 3600 to 6300. That would be 2700 rpms and the meat of the power curve. As far as dropping the redline....relative to what? The camshaft we speced out is pretty well done at 6300 so why spin the hell out of it....If he shifts at 6500 he falls right back to 4600 rpms which is the peak torque....

He stopped in today with nothing but a big grin....as long as he's happy then mission completed...

As far as dropping the red line that's I was talking about relative to stock which is 7k. My apologies about the +500ft/lbs rev range being off, the video pans over the left side of the dyno sheet quickly so it's a little difficult to see. I guess that with this build I was just a little confused, first with the choice of the iron block which you rarely see going into Z06's and then you term the motor a street torque maker but similar displacement builds with road race oriented cams generally make similar torque and HP numbers but stay over 600hp longer and rev out over 7k rpm. I guess this guy is drag racing or something and does not really care about the handling of the car with the extra weight of the iron block in the front but being more of a track guy that was the first thing that had me scratching my head. At the end of the day though as you mentioned, as long as the customer is happy, mission completed!

It's now two weeks later, and owner/customer J.D. comes in for the Break in Oil & Filter change...
I promise he can't get that WoW Factor ear to ear grin off his face!

Enjoy the new found "non OEM" fun Gent!

Excellent torque curve! I'm sure that car rips really hard!
