Gene,

Does this plug into the cigarette lighter? Does it switch itself off and start back when needed to keep the charge while the Vette is sitting, like the battery tender does, forget the name, but the one everyone seems to be using. I like the look of this and just wanted some more details, thanks.

Yes, this one does come with the cigarette lighter adapter. It does everything for you. Think of it as a smart phone, hehe. I wish I could scan in the manual for you, but it is a small booklet and hard to scan.

Pardon my ignorance but can this is the unit I can leave on my car through the winter when it's not being driven or is this simply a charger??

Thanks!

This is "a smart charger". You can leave it plugged in all winter long and it will maintain the battery voltage without overcharging.

Here is some further information for you.

CTEK battery chargers aren't just boosters: they charge and maintain batteries with a patented system that's battery- and electronics-friendly. CTEK designed these elegant, compact chargers to be water- and shock-resistant, and they're UL-approved for outside use and immune to power line fluctuations. Your batteries will be charged efficiently with no interruption in their charging cycles. CTEK chargers' safety systems feature sparkless connections that won't allow you to damage your vehicle's electrical system, even if you hook them up backwards.

The MULTI US 3300 charger works with most 12-volt batteries found in motorcycles, cars, SUVs, and small boats. It features a low-temperature mode that ensures your battery will get charged, and will maintain its charge, no matter what the weather.

Maintenance charging prolongs the lifetime of your battery by preventing complete discharge and acid buildup — perfect for motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, campers, and other recreational vehicles that only get used seasonally, or for "must-start" equipment like snow plows and tractors.

The MULTI US 3300 uses a patented 3-stage cycle of energizing your battery, filling it with power, and maintaining its charge — this cycle repeats itself when the battery's voltage drops too low. And never fear for your audio equipment or other electronics: CTEK battery chargers are completely safe to use without having to disconnect your system.

I bought a CTEK charger at the recommendation of a GM engineer who responded to my posting on the forum because my battery went bad in less than 6 months when it was driven sparingly because of weather. No way you can store a ZR1 without a battery tender and these work great. I ended up buying more and throwing out all the cheap tenders that I had and use these on everything.

That is certainly good advice. If you're not going to be driving the vehicle on a regular basis, don't waste the battery and get a tender!

The manual states it is a CTEK 3300, and the manual comes from GM. This was to be released for the C6 so there would be no C5 logo. It works in a C5 fine though!
