[Z06] Almost dropped valve in my PRC heads

Almost dropped valve in my PRC heads
I just replaced my stock LS7 heads with new PRC 265cc heads with stainless exhaust valves at the beginning of summer with a cam swap, made some good power, everything ran great. A few thousand street miles later I started hearing some ticking and started to investigate.
I'm really bummed out right now.

I found what appears to be the tip of the valve resting in the valve cover, it appears to have just fell off from the valve. It doesn't look like the rocker failed either, it still has all its needles..

I ordered it earlier this year during the winter, I wouldn't be too worried. It started making some noise and progressed somewhat rapidly so there was warning.

Missing lash cap?

PRC heads don't use lash caps. See "hardened tip" and I verified with PRC before installing them that they didn't need a lash cap.

Not yet, just pulled the valve covers off today. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they think. I highly doubt this is PRC's fault but it could be an issue with their titanium valve supplier.

After taking a closer look, #6 also failed but not quite as bad. Again, another titanium intake valve has its hardened tip missing. All of the 6 other intake valves that still have their hardened tip look good.
But the good news is that all the stainless exhaust valves look great!

Looks like a valve guide issue and the valve binded in the guide cause it to push the valve. Bad guide jobs can cause this I have seen it before. You need to call PRC about this. With my heads my porter actually put longer guides and spent a lot of time making sure the machine shop did it right.

I was also thinking valve float but I never took it high enough to cause something like that. If the spring pressure were off maybe the valve touched the pistons. If any piston to valve contact occurred then it should be obvious when the heads come off.
