Default 2009 z06 stock

did some playing around today with a 2013 viper stock. the 09 z06 has only 2500 miles. viper has 8,000 miles. my z06 spun from 25 mph. roll and the viper hooked up with NO spinning. when i hit second in the Z it spun alot again. it wasnt as bad as i thought probably a 1.5-2 cars in the end of quarter mile. whats the deal with the tires on this car are they that slippery? the guy who had the car only put 400 miles per year on. i think they turned hard is this possible? what do i need to beat this viper??? will a intake, tune and headers do it? i already have Corsa axle back.
if i change the tires whats good for NON track just some every once in awhile street racing, no rain?

Learn how to drive and to maintain traction with an engine that can overpower the tires. It isn't about flooring the throttle and dumping the clutch. You don't think the Viper owner couldn't have fried his tires if he hadn't managed how much power he was putting to the ground. Both cars can fry whatever tire is put on them.

Good year run flats are garbage! They dont hook and with age they wont hook in third gear either even if you re stock.Get some tires on your car and re run the viper it will be closer.

PSS. Recent firsthand experience with them on track and they surprised me.

The old 2008 ACR smashes my Wife's Z06. They claim the new ones are quicker. It came with Sport Cups on it and they don't spin unless I am trying to make it spin.

Both cars are extremely fast but stock for stock the nod from my experience goes to the Viper.

PS2, PSS, and Nitto NT are a few good options on the stock tire size.

If I understood correctly, your 09 Z06 has only 2500 original miles with probably the original Goodyear tires. If so, 5 year old tires, especially Goodyears are past their prime for a performance car like the Z06.

The Goodyears get brittle and hard/slippery within a couple of years, regardless of mileage. I too have a 09 Z, with 32k miles. I went with Michelin PS2 ZP recently, for my 3rd set of tires, huge difference.

Good luck.

Silly question, but why are you looking to add more power when you can't get traction with the power you already have? Start with the tires.

I can hook my 555rwhp Z with Nitto NT05R's anywhere above 10mph no problem. There on sale through discount tire direct and ebay right now I believe. Get them heat cycled as other people I know that have them don't hook as good as mine and they didn't get them heat cycled.

Goodyear eagle f1 runflats.... that's why. Get a real tire and you'll beat him.. I'm on NT05s making 540 WHP and have no trouble mashing 2nd, 3rd after doing a rolling burnout in 1st.

Any 5 year old tire will lose much of its traction.

Given a few foot rollout I can use first full throttle and not lose traction enough to affect acceleration and not spin at all after probably 20 mph. All stock with PS2s and 80 degree weather. From a roll, no traction issue whatsoever.

Check out the Toyo R888 or the NT05R tires for a good street/performance tire that will hook a lot better
