Sick of your heated cup holders?

What about the burning hot change in the center console?

HINSON knows the C5, C6, and C7 Corvettes could use a little work in the heat shield department when it comes to the x-pipe location and temperature. The weekend cruise isn't much fun when the center console in your Corvette is boiling hot! At the moment the only option you have is to deal with it.

...BUT NOW...

HINSON Motorsports has a simple fix for your problem.

The NEW HINSON Mid Pipe Blanket is a Flexible Exhaust Shield built to keep you cool.
The HINSON Blanket serves the same purpose as the Stainless Steel Heat Shields used to protect drivers in racing applications. The HINSON blanket was designed specifically for the Corvette Mid Pipe and can handle more complex bends than the Stainless Steel Shield.

The HINSON Blanket is constructed of High Temp textiles surrounding a 1700*F, non-ceramic, 1/2" insulation. On one side of the blanket you have thick silicone coated fiberglass which is attached for durability. On the opposite side you have stainless steel mesh which is added for abrasive protection and to provide space between your mid pipe and textile.

The HINSON Blanket is easy to install and has built in grommets so no tools are needed. The HINSON Blanket comes with Stainless Steel Ties which allow you to install it without having to remove your mid pipe. You simply slide the blanket above your mid pipe and use the Stainless Steel Ties to secure it in place. The HINSON Blanket is made from reliable and durable material so it can withstand all types of weather conditions.

You "DO NOT" have to remove your mid pipe to install the HINSON Blanket!!

How much hot weather testing has been done with this and what kind of data is there once heat soak sets in? I have seen too many products that make claims to rid the heat that are totally useless due to the extreme heat soak that sets in after about 30min of driving in traffic or street driving. I would like to see some real world reports of people using it that drive their Z daily in hot weather before getting this but if it really works I would buy it.

This blanket acts more like an enclosed heat shield than something like a header wrap that traps heat for a short period of time. The blanket is constructed of a 1/2in thick insulated textile material that acts a as shield unlike something like header wrap. As a level of perspective you can crank the car and make a 1/4 pass and still be able to touch the blanket. There truly is a significant difference in the heat dispersion as this acts like a 1700* heat shield.

Need to see test data before spending $300. It's clear the OP is enthusiastic about the product, but mere informal assurance on the forum that it is a good product is not enough for me to pull the trigger. With non-contact digital thermometers being common these days, the OP, with minimum effort, could publish before & after temp graphs showing the relative temp reductions over an hour-long drive or so.

Interesting. Although I thought a big part of the problem was heat coming from the torque tube, not just the exhaust.

You are totally right that the Tq tube is really the big issue and the exhaust just makes it worse but no matter what that blanked wrap is going to reach a saturation point and heat will be radiated through it and out the ends. I think the biggest issue is the fact the Tq tube is not heat shielded at all I guess and needs to be. No airflow around it so it cant be pulled out that way it just sits and gets worse. It is a sort of a poor design by GM. If this really works and it keeps it from becoming a sauna inside the car then I will be all over this like a fat kid on a donut!
