I don't drag race very much and most of my experience is from turbocharged imports. I use to bring my big turbo wrx and my bolt on mazdaspeed3 up there years ago. I never got a chance to take my LS powered RX7. I have made a few passes in my friends mustang.

right now I'm waiting on my drag radials. I have a set of C5Z fronts sitting at the house but the toyo proxes tq 275/40/17 I ordered are on back order. I may go with my street setup (spyders with Michelin PSS) but I would expect that to be pretty futile.

I've been debating picking up hoosiers in 275/40 or 315/35 but I like idea of being able to use the toyo on the street if I choose to.
Don't bother running street tires.

There 's defintely some mph hidden in driver mod too.
590+rwhp is alot.
The problem is that most people are unable (for many reasons) to keep the car in the rpm power band that will produce the best et and mph.

On street tires, you'd be just over 130 in decent air. Not sure how much more trap you'd get from drag radials. 5mph maybe?

My car made 562whp on a generous dyno and I got 128 in bad air (2400 DA) on street tires. 60 ft was between 1.95 and 2.1.

End result: 11.97 at 130mph, repeated 3-4x. 60' times varied from 1.86-2.31.

With some traction, that trapspeed should improve a fair amount. I look forward to seeing your times soon
that's not bad at all for street tires. did you air them down at all? if my drag radials will ever show up, hopefully I can get to NED and find out what the car has in it. this Friday night looks like a good night to make passes (cool with good predicted DA), but I would have to go with street tires

I asked Don and he is fine with me sharing them. 231 intake/ 242 exhaust on a 115 LSA. 6.5 degrees of overlap.

135 is about what I'm hoping for on drag radials so hopefully your math is about right only time will tell.

Can I be added to the "I love Don Kinder" group also ? I had just the heads changed to TSP PRC 265cc's last week and came up with 481 rwhp. I would have loved to cam it also but the funds were not there .

The car runs fine for an old guy like me..

And I also live in Mass. Bedford exactly.

Rock On

Don is awesome. Still trying to convince him to tune my Nitrous Z. He's not a big fan of nitrous, and that makes me sad

K so, I finally bought me a drag setup and made it to the track Wednesday evening. Best pass was 10.72@131. 1.58 60 foot on 17x11 c4 zr1 rear wheels with Hoosiers. Pretty happy with the outing considering its been a couple years since I've been. Car ran very strong. Just have to work on launching it consistently. My car is 565/501. There is still some left on the table. Just have to do my job better.

1.58 60 foot isnt anything to sneeze at. you running stock front wheels/tires with the hoosiers? how was the track prep? i've been thinking of going- i just got some 275/40/17 MT ET street radials and have been itching to try them out. was thinking of waiting for a test and tune saturday where the track prep would be better.

Track prep was good. I was the third car down after they did it. Race tire cars go for two hours before street tire cars can go. I'm getting a little nose dip yet. Have to work on that. Not bad though for not being out there for a couple Years. I go about four times a year, that's it.

Good runs. I have similar dyno numbers and mph but how are some other guys out there trapping 136+ with similar mods as us?

I believe it's there, just have to get better at my game. Launching, shifting, the whole deal. I was leaving at around 3000. Still getting a little nose dip. Right there is some time to gain. Better 60 foots. Leaving harder. I don't really go out there enough to be perfect at all that. I working on it though 😁.

Do you have a cage? Were they OK with you running that quick or did they give you a hard time/kick you out?

no, I don't have a cage. when I went through tech he said something to me about it. also said I needed a long sleeve shirt and jacket which I didn't have. I just took a helmet with me. so he let me run and said hell be watching me lol. first pass busted out a 10.72@131 figured when I got my slip they would say something. never said anything all night. Im sure though next time I go they will. well see.
