The Corvette Wave
Is the Corvette wave dead or not cool anymore? Took my Z06 for a drive today and pasted two Corvettes and waved at them and they just looked and did nothing. I know when I drove my Viper and waved at another Viper owner at least I would get the finger. Typical Viper owner response

If the Vette is driven by someone belonging to a corvette club, you will usually get a wave back. I think a lot of Vette owners have no clue about Vette history including the wave.

I'm a member of the Tulsa Vette Sette; living in Broken Arrow. Here in Oklahoma the wave is given by all Vettes as you pass; whether you've a club member or not. FYI there are 400 members in TVS...

Here in Georgia, most people wave. On Friday, I passed a gorgeous orange Z with black wheels. I was busy looking to the right, where my wife worked, and didn't have time to wave back. Sometimes we are just distracted enough to see it sometimes. Sorry.

Seems like it's a class issue lately. I drive a ZO6 and I'm noticing that most of the ZO6 and the base coupe guys are waving back and forth but the ZR1 guys for the most part have their collective noses in the air along with the C7 group. I got my first Vette when I was 18, a 1966 427, we were waving then, that was 40 years ago. I guess times and traditions change? Once in a while I'll catch myself wanting to wave when I realize I'm in my truck.

I think there is some arrogance in the Vette domain but we certainly haven't cornered the market on that. I shake my head when I go to an informal cruise-in and see the owners parking themselves in lawn chairs next to the their cars - a lot (not all) just blow you off when you try to talk to them about their car. My latest experience was with the owner of a gorgeous new white Camaro SS right after I pulled in and parked a row over. As I walk up to the car, I smile and ask 'Your car?' 'Yeah' 'Very nice, really like the wheels' Owner then turns his chair and faces the other way.

Never seen anyone in Arizona wave, and after meeting a lot of Arizona vette owners, it makes sense why they don't. Nice vette owners here are a rare exception.

Have not seen another viper (any gen) for months. I guess most are garage queens? See a few vettes and typically they wave. I always return the courtesy and often flash headlights first. Generally corvette owners are more generous with waves etc than Dodge drivers.

Wave almost always done here in Dallas area. Not 100%, but close, at least for me.

Some don't care about the wave, some don't know. When I wave, it's not to acknowlege the driver, it's just appreciating a cool car, Corvette or not. I waved to a Viper the other day while waiting at an intersection LOL. If I'm in the daily driver and see another cool car, it gets a thumbs up.

Wow,hostile response. So many cool cars out now with the h.p wars,we all like muscle cars,to me it does not matter what they are. I was at a non car event a couple towns over and a guy in a sweet hemi challenger going the other way actually stuck his whole arm out of the window to wave at me in my vette. It was all I could do to wave back I was so surprised. Now I wave at anybody in a muscle car,no matter what it is.Most wave back.If they don't I don't get my feelings hurt
