Default What is this (Cam Question)

Pulled my stock cam from my 08 Z06 and these marks stood out to me. Any ideas?

So this is what I am thinking.

"Inspect the lifter rollers for cleanliness and for smooth operation. If chatter marks are found on the rollers, this is a sign that the lifter bearing may have been sticking, in which case the camshaft should also be inspected. If chatter marks are found on either the lifter roller or the cam lobe, replace the errant component."

How do I get to the lifters? I know it is a dumb question but I have never messed with lifters before.

I'm assuming all I need to do is pull the lifter tray to get to them.

The heads have to come off to get the lifters out.

Cool. Heads are off so I'll pull them out today. I was also wondering if I just replace the bad one or swap all of them.

Replace them all. Last thing you want is to have another go bad and have to re do the heads and cam because you wanted to save $100 on lifters.

Might want to put new trays in at the same time. They are cheap as well.

This is because you didn't put in an aftermarket cam soon enough.

I recommend a cam, lifters and some head porting.

No, don't run summit lifters IMO. Either new GM ls7, or a good aftermarket (morel, lunati, crane, BTR, etc).

Replace the trays for sure. Also run a better oil next time around.
