What should I pay? High miles z06
Looking at buying a high miles z06 . Anybody seen one with 80-100k miles on them ? If so what should I pay for one with such mileage ?

About 3 months ago I bought one with 52K miles. 2008 z06, black... to me it was a great price at $40k. Reason being it looked like it would have had 10K, owner had the protectant film all over the car, new tires, and most of all the things done to the car exactly like I would have done if I would have got it new.... it had tinted windows, cold air intake, exhaust work, hand held programmer, and best of all every record on the car from 6K miles on. It also had small appearance upgrades and the owner was a great guy. It meant a lot for me to have a story for the car rather than going buy from the joeshmo on the corner that is just out to get you. At the same time I bought mine I saw one with just 60K miles and he was at about $37K but now has dropped it to $34K.... I am assuming because it isn't so clean, more less a daily driver. Good luck with your purchase!

I just got my stock black 07' with 42k for $36000
60k+ you're looking at low 30's
Look into John brothers auto in PA, I think he has another 07' for $38000 with 25k mi

The one I'm looking at is an 08 black on black 3lt with red two tone interior . Pretty clean car and it's all stock . The guy said it has just been used to drive on vacations and to travel etc.

I have no concerns about high mileage a C5's Z06.
However the C6 Z06 is a different animal all together
Granted once the heads are done right that LS7 issue should not need to be revisited for a while (50K ?).
I spent a lot of time on the M5 board and they have a bigger than LS7 head problem which is even a more mysterious: failed rod bearings on low mileage engines. $ 27,000 out of warranty cost to replace motor once bearings failed.
You guys will say there are no similarities between the LS7 and a Formula One derived V-10 8,300 rpm motor.
But here is the scary part: the piston acceleration for the long stroke LS7 at 7,000 rpm is substantially higher than the piston acceleration for the short stroke V-10 which even using a 10W-60 synthetic (the bandaid oil developed for the M3 bearing problems) is burning up bearings every 50K-miles.
Granted I do believe GM put forth a superior effort in designing the reciprocating assembly for the LS7; in durability testing they ran the engine at 8,000 rpm with no failure
But still when looking at a high mileage LS7 i want to see proof (receipts) that oil was changed often with a high quality synthetic.

Well I did not go on my little road trip to look at this 07 Z. No way was I driving a hour and 15 on way to look at something I would not drive in the weather we are having today in the NE. BUT, I was called by a friend who lives in Plymouth MA. He was driving by Corvette Mike's and saw what he thought was a black C6Z so being real close to me I decided to swing by there. Ohhh ya. A 07 Z with 15K miles on it sitting in the show room. It is so clean and in such good condition that they didn't even detail it. I could not find a scratch or nick of any kind on the outside. The inside is spotless with not even a sign that they vacuumed it. Opened the hood and clean as new with only a hint of dust. Only downside is dealer price $42,900.00. Still so nice it will be hard to pass on Pondering going back for test drive when the weather clears. Oh yes, it is that nice.

What does that mean? Most Zs only need their oil replaced once per year. Even an 06 which is 9 years old could get by with once per year oil changes while doing 7 or 8 K miles per year for a total mileage ranging from 60K to 75K on just 9 oil changes. Double the mileage to 120K to 150K and you only have oil changes twice per year for a total of 18 oil changes. This isn't the 1960s or even early 1990s where the oil had to be changed every 3 months or every 3K miles. Even cars that use non-synthetic oil can get by going 7K to 8K miles on a single oil change. It has been that way for close to two decades now and I don't see a lot of high mile cars failing due to lubrication issues.

The oil's ability to prevent metal on metal contact diminishes well before 8K miles, how do know; I watch how much stuff I see on my magnetic drain plugs and cut back oil change intervals till the drain plug is clean.
which means 3K (Mustang) to 6K (928) for my cars

Back to the OP, $43k is a bit high right now, even if low miles. Did you look into John brothers auto in PA? I know they have a low mi Z for about $38000.

Good advice, however my hands are tied, my Wife's GT convertible is only being driven to and from work in the Summer (3,000-miles per year).
She insists that I only touch her car if I follow manufacture's recommendations, thus 5-20 synthetic goes into, which is crap for keeping a V-8 from metal on metal (Ok in Prius).
If I had my way it would only see 0-40 Mobil-1 European Formula and it would go 2-years and 6K like the 928

See attached example: oil changes every 3K to 4K
