Default 100K+ Club

While sitting at a light this past weekend, I glanced down and saw 123456 on the odometer. So...who else is in the 100K+ club?

I bought my 2007 in Jan. of 2007...sole owner. Guides were shot at 88,000. I rebuilt the heads with Yella Terra roller rockers and silicon bronze guides. I polished and re-used the stock valves.

The check engine light is due to the CATs. Maybe using the European 0-40 Mobile 1 has caught up with me.

102K with mine. I've had it new since 12/06. How many with over 100K are the original owners?

BTW... The best damn car I've ever owned, bar none!!!

EDIT: At 88k miles all guides were within spec, as measured by WCCH in 2012. At that time the heads were replaced with PRC265s.

Default 100k+

102,000 miles as of today. First 1000 miles when I drove her home to Texas from the NCM back in June 2006.

This is very interesting.......high mileage engines.

Even more interesting would be to also state whether the heads have been checked or re-machined. That way we can get a better handle on how widespread this valve guide thing is - because at these miles it really says something about longevity of the LS7 if they are original.

I'm gunna go out on a limb here and say close to 40,000 of your miles are on stock valves which were completely abused with worn guides for the first 85,000 miles but continued to be used after replacing the guides?

Cheers, Paul.

All of the miles are on the stock valves. Rebuilt the heads at 88K and re-used the stock valves after polishing them.

Installed silicon bronze guides and Yella Terra roller rockers when I rebuilt the heads.

Not quite there yet but real close at 99,200+ miles and am the original owner (06 bought in March of 06). Engine is still completely stock but in a few weeks I am going to have the heads sent to WCCH for their 'fix'.

Okay, so I was off by 3000 miles on the rebuild...point is the stock valves not only have lasted you 123k miles but 35k of that was after you found they'd been abused in worn out guides for 88k miles! I believe this is the ultimate proof that the stock exhaust valves are FAR from junk like a few 'experts' on this forum preach regularly.

Thanks for your input John.

Cheers, Paul.

So is there something broken? What is WCCH gunna fix?

Be aware that Richard believes the stock valves are what cause the issues some have had with LS7 heads and yet guys like the OP have the ultimate proof that there isn't a damn thing wrong with the stock valves.

Cheers, Paul.

Default 30k

I only had like 30K before my LS7 issue.... I don't think there's any rime or reason. Unless maybe you can trace it down to the particular engineer who assemble the motor. The name plate will tell you....

In my case it was Kerry Rasmussen

84K and I am looking at getting the heads pulled, checked and fixed if necessary. No problems but I want the peace of mind.

Except when subject to abuse by worn guides.

It will be very interesting to see how your guides measure at that mileage. Please report back with your measurements.

'06, second owner, with 113k here. Daily driver.
I had wiggle test performed by my mechanic (head tech for a local tuner here in ATL) when I purchased the car at 106k and they were fine.
