[Z06] MSD's new Intake Manifold for LS7 and other LS...

MSD, the ignition system company that makes crappy wires, coils, etc now moving on to parts that are not ignition related. Maybe they will be better at making those than what there specialty is.
I hope it works out, is priced right, but as I told you earlier, not exactly holding my breath or having high hopes for this.

This is over in the F.I. section....says it does slightly outperform a ported FAST (without naming it):

I believe CF member Ram Air told me that Vara Ram is coming out with one soon also...not sure when though.

Vararam has had prototype ones since last Sema.

Oh I won't.... But really, by just glancing at the pictures, it sure looks as if the air flow from the TB inlet to the runners is very restricted. I do however like how straight the runners are. Would like to see them a bit longer, but the shape and length looks well thought out.
Dyno play time and ET's will be the telling factors, not the eyeball..... I'm looking forward to seeing some.

You can only do so much and it under the stock hood.
I just hope they stay together under boost, as it maybe a decent option for boosted people.

I was hoping AFR would come up with something, seeing how they have gotten into the plastic intake world. Not holding my breath though.
So I'm curious Unreal, why no love for MSD wires/coils/ignition?? MSD has been my go-to for all ignition related stuff for a very long time. Hell, I buy their superconductor wire by the bulk and have all kinds of boots. Or is it just the newer LS stuff you don't like??

Their LS coils are worse than stock, and their off the shelf wires are worse than stock.
They do make some good stuff and some ok electronics, but there LS stuff has been junk since it came out.

I too am thinking of picking one of these up once someone else does... Currently running a 414ci stroker w a ported Fast 102, NW 102 TB...
In the vid, the guy does in fact "indirectly" state that the MSD flows better than the "other guy".. I have also heard of the VR intake coming out @ the first of the year... Supposedly has interchangeable runners for different applications... Decisions decisions.

VR runner prototypes weren't made to fit under a vette hood. They were a camaro/etc application FYI.

Not to belabor this, and to also drag the thread off topic, but what exactly is it that you find to be sub par? I have heard rumblings about MSD parts for LS engines not being all that great, but I can't seem to find exactly what it is that folks don't like.... I'm especially interested in the coils, as I was contemplating buying a set.

They don't perform and lose power compared to stock. Stock has made 2000+rwhp. MSD start missing at mild boost levels and go out. There is zero reason to spend money on them when the stock perform better. If you want red coils, just paint the stock ones.

Katech will make a mint sanding off the lettering and Paint matching them to the car.
If the Katech engine dyno validates the LPE dyno, this will be pretty damn cool.
We tried the Harrop ITB in a back to back with the CF112/NW102/FAST102 and got nowhere on the Katech chassis dyno. Harrop lost. Hard to envision more from another intake manifold, but the proof will be in the next dyno or two.
Just what I need, more HP!!

Seeing this intake at SEMA I personally found it pretty ugly. I guess removing the lettering and painting would help a lot.
The big question is will it hold up under boost. I suppose we will find out soon enough.

Melting Slicks
Release Date
Called MSD, probably sometime in January, though Summit has them in their on-site store but the delivery date may change says $950 too.

This intake looks really good.
Like I mentioned before, straight, nice bell mouths, and you could actually see some taper on the runner.
I want to know the runner length vs stock vs Fast. Runner length will be a critical factor on the cam IC when degreeing your cam.
Since your LS and IC will determine when your power will come on line sooner or later and how it will carry through the power band. The runner length will also move your power band.
Either way, by photos alone, I like this intake design much better than the FAST and I look forward seeing some results.
