I have not driven them both but I wouldn't be surprised in the real world if the C7 is faster. I certainly know I won't be messing with any when I get my c6 z06.

I love corvettes so the more I see the happier I am!
I have driven 2 c7 manuals. compared to my c6z these cars flat run out of wind. I am confident the c6 Z would outrun these cars on any venue.

As far as the new a8 automatic, I think it might get a jump off the line from a dead stop on my C6Z, For that matter, I could probably get the jump on my C6Zo6 with the 1990 L98 automatic corvette I owned in the early 90's running from a dead stop in the real world on the street.

From a dead stop it will take a VERY skilled driver in a stock ZO6 verses a Stock A8 auto in a quarter mile race. From a roll the ZO6 will win.

Just drove a new Stingray two days ago then went and purchased an `09 Z06 yesterday. The new Vette motor just does not pull on the top end like the LS-7. It does handle nice, definitely a more compliant ride...but it also feels cramped inside. I love the new purchase, had a `07 (pictured at left) couple of years ago.

My friend has one and it is a nice car. My 06 Z is all stock and the C7 is no match for my Z in way you drive it.

Absolutely. The a/t C7s outrun the manuals and the lone A8 on their fast list is sub 11.4 with a great trap speed. Most Z owners not only don't track their cars, they haven't spent any time practicing their launch.
There might not ever be any stock C7s in the 10.0s but I am expecting the CF fast lists will have more sub 11.5 C7s than C6 Zs by this time next year. The a/t takes much inconsistency out of the launch and shifting. You can't expect the results without the practice, especially in a high powered m/t car.

judging from the new C7Z's trap speeds it looks like the c6z will be a decent run with it on the freeway

Street racing will be from a roll which will always go to the c6z06. Strip racing will be a drivers race in the 1/4 anything longer and the z06 wins again. Mod for mod it gets worse not better for the c7.

My 100% stock 1964 Vette with a powerglide will get the jump on my 2009 Z06 for the first 30', but then it's all Z06. LOL

My apologies. Didn't notice "stock". I know it was an A8 because we were both leaving LMR to go to lunch......... I ate twice that day😜
