Im sure the Z06 is faster, was just wondering if anyone has any stories. The A8 cars seem to be very strong and have trapped as high as 124mph so far. Seems the trans makes the car a very tough vette!! Anyone had any real world experience with one??? Driving one or racing one?

Yes I have, car even had a blower. It jumped out on me by a car from 40MPH roll. By the top of third I put two on him and fourth was even meaner. I have H/C/I with higher compression. I keep MS109 in it

No I'd assume the Z would still be faster. I'm just wondering by how much. The stingray does have only 5 less torque. The trans helps but I don't think enough to overcome what you mentioned. From what I hear though the stingrays with the A8 are pretty stout.

The C7's are OVER RATED and hyped by GM to sell more of them. I have a stock 2013 Z06 and I my buddy has the new Stingray, we put them on the track and I WALK AWAY from him every time!!! I actually think my C5 (with headers and CAI) would give him a run.

I seem to remember reading that a C6 Z06 weighs considerably less than a C7. With the extra power in the Z06 I can't see a C7 A8 being able to keep up.

You are wrong plenty of A8 cars running mid 11s at well over 120mph. The 15 A8 cars seem to be much quicker than the 14s and m7 cars. Plus remember this is only a base vette. The fact a base vette is this quick is very good.

Too many people here treat the C7 as if it has leprosy. If you don't like it as well as the C6Z, fine, but it ain't s-it.

I agree. Despite the weight disadvantage those quick shifts, coupled with it being an easier job to get the power down (as there is less of it), I personally wouldn't try to race any Stingray unless I was on sportcups. The same way I wouldn't try to race a new s550 with my previous generation s600 (unless it was from 100 mph )

I'm sure a Z06 would still win with a good driver. If it's a bad driver bumbling shifts and stuff like that the A8 would leave it.

I love the C6 Z06. I can't remember wanting a car SOOO bad when it first came out. I wanted to order a C7 Z06 but it was stretching my budget a little too much when I looked at it. I'm 33 and work full time, just started a side business, and had my first child (she's 4 months) I decided to order a shark gray Z51 A8 car 2lt with black rims and red interior. I hope I like it as much as I think I will.

I think you will be happy! You will appreciate the quality of the interior and creature comforts for sure. Nice color combo! Love red interiors. Post pics of it when you get it.

Have you driven both cars?? Stingray and C6 Z06?? I had to drive both to make my choice. It was hard and looks are subjective but I loved the way the stingray looks and the handling seemed to blow me away. The E-Diff really helps to put that power down and it makes almost as much torque as the Z. Either way you can't go wrong

I found this vid online. It's a C6 Z06 vs A8 stingray. The z wins as I expected but I thought the A8 did pretty well considering the C6Z is a beast. After I do full bolt ons to my Z51 it should be pretty close in performance. Sorry I don't know how to embed so here is the link.

The Stingray has more of a European design, where it's wideness isn't dictated by swollen wheel arches like on the zr1 or z06. Either way it's a wonderful design. The C7 Z06 I'm sure has loads of presence. It isn't obvious from pics but I think it will look very cohesive. I have not driven them both but I wouldn't be surprised in the real world if the C7 is faster. I certainly know I won't be messing with any when I get my c6 z06.

I love corvettes so the more I see the happier I am!

I have driven and raced a 2015 C7 with the A8. Matter of fact, that is my C6 Z in that link above. The video doesn't really tell the entire story. I was in the process of downshifting from 5th to 3rd, as I'm about to downshift to the correct gear (2nd) the driver in the C7 began to honk so I just left it in the current gear and said what the hell lol. We ran again shortly after from a 2nd gear roll and the out was much different. I pulled front the hit and continued to pull as the speeds increased. I'm posting my impressions and a quick review of the Stingray with the A8.
