If the dealer says no to 16k write him the check and bring the title with you. He will take it. Worst case he says no and maybe you can sweeten the deal by extending the warranty at purchase for 2k more.

Let me know how it works out.

spend 2-4k and get your LS7 heads done, maybe you already have done this. -- you will have to do that with the 2013 anyway. . If you are in a state that you pay property taxes, you will be paying more property tax on the 2013 + sales tax on the 20k, and insurance might be more. Over the next 3 or 4 years the 13 will be depreciating at a faster rate than your 09.

Better yet put in another 10-15k in and get a c6zr1

Can't buy GMPP on a 2009 anymore. I suppose if you bought it in 2011 Dec you still could, but not most 2009's.

I don't think that's correct, I bought GMPP on my 5200 mile 07 when I bought it 9 months ago. It's already paid off the $3000 I paid with a tranny rebuild and head swap.

I would love to find an extended warranty and keep beating my 09Z until the heads fail. GMPP was a no go when I bought it, due to being out of original warranty already. I could not find many recommendations on aftermarket warranty companies.

I think upgrading to a 2013 is a great idea, but I would look into one of the z07 or carbon versions or whatever they offered that was unique that final year.

Keep the 09, it should hold its value well compared to the 13. Then buy a used C7Z.

When I bought mine the dealer said the GMPP was the only warranty available, that no one else would honor a warranty since it was a Z06.

Anyway, mine now has a 50K GMPP bumper to bumper warranty. It was out of warranty/had none when I bought it (its an '07 BTW).

Either get a ZR1 or wait and pick up a 2015 Z06.

What exactly does the '13 have that your current car doesn't aside from fewer miles? Now your car +$20K for the Carbon upgrades and 3LZ? Sure. But for another 2LZ? I'd never do it. I'd take that $20K and put it into the '09 if you're itching to change it up. Add some aero, some Stoptech brakes, redo the heads, some better shocks, and keep driving it.

I sold my 2008 Z06 and bought a 2013 myself. I made the decision because it pleased me and is what I wanted and still want. Yes it was a significant amount of money. But I'll live only once. When I sit and review my life in hindsight, I most likely want focus on the things I did do. I'll focus on the things I wish I had. What one person wants or does will seldom be the choice of any majority. If having a 2013 makes you happy, go for it! It's the last year of the C6. Only 471 Z06 units for the year. I love mine! I'd do it again. No regrets.

Many great suggestions! I'm still thinking about this. I believe my car and $20K is a fair deal when you look at NADA values. However, I think there are better deals to be had. I may be able to get this car for less. We'll see.

I'm leaning more toward a newer car than mods. Been there done that. Love the sound of a good cam, but I'm satisfied with the C6Z in stock form.

I'm surprised that a couple of guys here were able to get GMPP after 3/36 expired. I could not. It's the only warranty I'd consider beyond factory.

I like what JWingo said, it's the last year of the C6Z with very few made. That's worth something to me. I mentioned this in a earlier post.

If you nervous about engine failure like plenty other have said do head package 2-3k, and enjopy your Z. Better yet; give me $20k and I'll drop my engine tonight and have shipped to you for a spare...haha

I wouldn't do what you are contemplating personally. A year and a half ago, I went from an 09Z w/ 36k miles to a 11 Carbon Edition with 11K miles for my car + $18K... Only I sold my car privately.
I got quite a different car. You are getting the same car with less miles.

Good luck in your decision, which ever way you go..It's a nice decision to have!!

For me, I'd get a Carbon or a ZR1 or stick with what I had and maybe upgrade that somewhat instead.
